I dont know, maybe the devs will keep adjusting the rules until they find a happy medium? You painted the picture with a bit of a bias. I see it differently. At one point there was no penalty at all for can flipping, then one was added but the devs also see that its being used to create non-consentual pvp that provides little to no content. Now they are expanding the rules, if those rules dont work out or if they are misused then a new system might be designed. Its a living game, things change, adopt or die is the motto.

Please keep in mind i do not have all the information regarding how this new system will (potentially) work.

Oddly enough i do not like the idea of a can flipper beeing flagged to everyone..
Im a carebear at heart, but doing this will just make high sec even safer and the people who live in high sec will have yet another thing that they simply dont have to worry about, which in turn will encurage more lazy EVE players who thinks that getting blown up and risking their assets is something that should not happen in high sec. This ofc will cause even more whines/rage on the forums when something DOES happen and they end up loosing a ship because they got suecide ganked/war decced/jumped in to low sec just to see how it was.

I love EVE because of the fact that it has risks and that you always have to be on your toes (even when doing something that can be very passive, like how some people do their mining). I could see them doing this in the starter systems and that i would actually support. A lot of young players dont know that it is illegal to can flip/bait noobs in those areas, thus they dont report it. But making sure that those that steal your can in those systems gets flagged to everyone...If nothing else it might be interesting to see a bunch of 1 week old players trying to blow you up Lol

But bottom line...I can understand why people would want empire "safer",but remember that this is EVE...Its not supposed to be safe and it simply wouldn't be as fun/challenging if it was.

To avoid cap ship blobs and hot drops. To be able to perform logistics without a second account. To mission. To market. To socialize with the majority of the population. To avoid being the ***** of some alliance in which no one makes money after CTAs except for the douche collecting taxes from its members.

The question remains, why are you in high-sec? You can live in w-space and have everything that you listed (except market).

Oh look, masternerdbuy is trolling again.

On topic, but the game has been wimped out to much lately and its not even in highsec. Think we can get CCP to bring back Titan tracking and Super Carriers like they were just post Dominion? God they were powerful and I don't even fly or fight them, but damn I want them back to just prove EVE isn't as fair to the guys who think carebears whine but then the whinebears in null and lowsec get pounded by Titans and Carriers. Heck, lets bring back EVE as it was shortly before Hilmar had his breakdown late last year...cause I know there was more whinebears in null and low against capital ships which got wimped down because of whining they can't deal with Super Carrier Fleets or Titan Blobs Twisted.

Opps, did I show that everyone whines in EVE ? Big smile

Non-consensual? My good sir, if you choose to fire upon that can flipper you are hereby consenting to pvp.

My point was that at one point people complained about not being able to attack can flippers and we gave them that option. while most continued to not attack some tried but that's like the peasant attacking a militant. So now they complain that they can't stand up to a can flipper. So now the dev's are saying alright, everyone in the belt can attack this man. Personally I see ultra baits happening on both sides in the foreseeable future, and the tear streams will run red.

It seems you do play the game on easy mode if you hunt newbies in highsec and call it PVP.

So let me get this straight; hisec pvpers (that IS what you are, right?) are whining about a theoretical change that would make it easier for anyone to jump in and fight them?
Why the whine?

It sets a bad precedent. CCP is caving to whiners.

I have not been to highsec literally in years except the occasional brief trip to buy something for cheap. I do not go there because I like PVP and highsec PVP is literally the most infantile and inferior form of PVP currently available in Eve Online. Frankly I think it's a good idea. It forces quasi-carebear faux-PVPers like you to have to go somewhere that is actually dangerous to get a fight.

Not the point. Hisec should NEVER be a safe place.

I'm going to have to disagree garmon. I do see where you're coming from. There is a huge potential for combat escalation with the new system.

I see this as the writing on the wall. It sets a really bad standard for future changes to pvp mechanics. If they eventually mess with wardecs and make them only consensual a massive strategic element of the game will be lost and POSes will be nigh invulnerable in hi sec.

I've always been in favor of making all of EVE nullsec though. I would greatly prefer that to this solution.

Things are only impossible until they are not.

No, it didnt. Titan tracking and stats are getting nerfed because it makes them too secure and very low risk. Look at the trend, every time there is a change that makes stuff blow up, null sec welcomes it. For example, the logoff timers, impact everyone. They were welcome, logi changes that are being proposed (aggression for assisting someone), they too will be welcome. On the other hand, the whiners in high sec arent welcoming a change that will make more stuff blow up. Why? Probably because they want to gank in a risk free environment.
