Windows 64bit Incompatibility

I've been having this issue sense 1.5.2 but was able to launch out of the ExeFile in the bin folder.

Now I need the launcher to upload the latest patch which I downloaded manually for the game to be able to work correctly.

repair.exe does not do anything and I get this update when the EVE Online Update Setup window occurs.

Exception in thread Thread-7:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "threading.pyc", line 530, in __bootstrap_inner
File "threading.pyc", line 483, in run
File "zsync\readFromUrl.pyc", line 117, in DownloadPart
File "zsync\readFromUrl.pyc", line 136, in _DownloadPart
File "zsync\zsync.pyc", line 762, in callback
FileSyncError: data corruption

Any help would be appreciated

TL:DR I have the PATCH file but am unable to upload it due to windows 64-bit incompatibility of launcher.

Are you using some kind of packet filter or content blocker or whatever modifying files you download (e.g. removing ads)? This sounds like something modifies everything the patcher and/or repair.exe try to download. Also check your computer for viruses or troyans possibly modifying downloaded files. An error message regarding "Windows 64-bit incompatbility" usually tells you there's something wrong with the file, because the only valid/undamaged executables that should show you that error are old 16-bit executables. If you can't find any reason for the weird behaviour, run HijackThis, upload the log at http://pastebin.com and link it here.

Hi,

As Aethlyn said, this is most likely because the Launcher executable has become corrupted most likely because of a faulty download.

To fix it:

1. Download this http://content.eveonline.com/EveOnlineLauncher/launcherInstaller/EveOnlineLauncherInstaller_TQ_1_11.exe
2. Point it to where you have installed EVE Online
3. Start EVE Online

Try the following:
  • Go to C:\Users\[YourAccount]\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE.
  • Delete the folder "Downloads".
  • Then open the folder matching your install location, e.g. the one starting with "C_Games_Eve_Online..." if you've got the game installed to "C:\Games\Eve Online".
  • Once inside, delete the folder "Cache".
  • Open the folder where your game is installed and rename the sub folder "Launcher" to "Launcher-old".
  • Run repair.exe and let it finish repairing.
  • If everything works as expected, delete the "Launcher-old" folder.

I got an error message saying
Error opening file for writing: C:\Program files (x86)\...\launcher\launcher.exe

The launcher is still running and/or opened in background (you might not see it). Reboot first, then try reinstalling the launcher.

@Thak:
Have you tried reinstalling the launcher using the link above?

This sounds VERY odd. Could you check your hard disk for errors, if you've got the time, scan for bad sectors, too.

Did you delete or rename the launcher folder before repairing? Otherwise it might for whatever skip updating it (did that for me once).

I just did that, and still getting an error message. Maybe my desktop shortcut is directed to the wrong place? Is there a way to fix that?

Your desktop shortcut should point to eve.exe - if any of the other settings is wrong (e.g. the working dir) it shouldn't run at all (i.e. not even showing the 64 bit warning). Data corruption most likely points to some issue with the downloaded data and/or their representation on your hard disk (i.e. something getting broken somewhere).
I still think there might be something else interfering, e.g. anti-virus, firewall and/or packet filter. Is there any such solution active?
