Why mining drones are pointless.

The base yield of a harvester mining drone is 30 m3. (150 m3 for 5 Drones
This takes place over 60.00 Seconds. (0.5 m3/s for 1 or 2.5m3/3 for 5 drones

So in the best of worlds you would have level 5 mining drone operation.
This means 375m3 would be your yield with harvester mining drones if you used 5 of them.
Not all that different from 312m3 which is what you would get with tech 2s.

Unless you are in a vexor with mining yield rigs you really are not going to reap any serious benefit from using drones.

Mining Drones V: *1.25
Drone Interfacing V: *2
Gallente/Amarr Cruiser V: *1.5
2 * MDMA II: *1.3225

Per drone: 148.7 m^3/minute
Total: 743.5 m^3/minute in drone bonused ship 495.6 m^3/minute on non drone-bonused ship (assuming you are close enough to the asteroid that transit time doesn't matter).

That's like an extra strip miner if you are flying a Hulk.

Worthless, sure.

Mining drones are not pointless.
All you need is a carrier fully rigged LDMA's, fifteen Harvester drones and no brain.

Tadá! Awesome ore yield.

Don't forget to park that thing next to the rock though. Those harvesters are slow as hell.

don't forget that drones can't mine ore with size = 16m3 (well, last time i checked it drones didn't mine anything from those ores). So no ABC.....
