Sig radius on a planet is HUGE.

Sig blah blah blah blah

Its probably something along the lines of: every ship in EVE has very basic forms of all the Ewar. Planets however, do not have such defenses.

Yes, I made that up. Its not even that good of a BS idea.

Niborg

On a more serious note, it would probably be more efficent to make something shaped like a telephone pole made of iron, depleted uranium, etc, and just drop it from altitude. It'll make a nice big hole in the ground.

Not according to EVE funsics they don't. P

Should I correct you, or do I not care?

...

...

Alright, **** it. Grid systems are in place on a planet. The planet still rotates.

The grid moves.

The only way a "fixed grid" works in the manner you think it does, is if the ship rotates along the same axis around the planet at the same relative speed (greater distance would mean higher speed needed to rotate around the axis in "parallel") ...OR, they would base it off calculations that say hey, grid 41MRQ38802218 is coming up at you in about 10 seconds, get ready to shoot at it.

OR, the most plausible, Grid 41MQR3888228282 is going to have the important bit of land under it in ten seconds. Probably the easiest in terms of just point and shoot, but timing would be more important

Either way, it or the planet is moving, and calculations would have to be made

Have a nice day.

Hello, hello again.

Yeah, well under tracking speed, i wasn't really being sarcastic in response to him, just snidely agreeing with him. I pretty much love Baltec's posts.

Judging by the demo, its normal guns with a special module called 'orbital bombardment computer' or something similar.

So if the planet is earth size you can orbit at a distance of 35,786 km and reduce the tracking to zero.

Ships have built in electronic warfare active at all times and this heavily skews with hostile inbound fire.

Planets do not.

planets orbit and spin in perfectly predictable manner. ships do not.
