If it's pirate faction tags, raising faction standing just got a lot more expensive.

At least a year away, and we have no idea bout the mechaincs, could be a new kind of tag for all we know. Could be faction related as well, standings, FW, Pirate FW, etc.

From the Crimewatch round table it sounded like they wanted to give tags in general some purpose so I think it will include all tags. They also said the high value tags like diamond and platinum would have a higher boost though no numbers were mentioned.

with the rarity of officer tags im sure their value will increase exponentially, perhaps not so much the normal tags as they are not as rare.

That depends on how much of an increase in benefit one receives from using them. I'm guessing the benefit will not be 20-40 fold that of some of the other tags, which is what the difference in price seems to be right now.

They might, but I would not expect them to rise in value more than about ten times over the value in time, expressed in ISK, as it takes to grind up security status by shooting rats, a functionality that will remain, as stated in the presentation.

I say ten times out of my backside of course, but that's a pretty hefty premium for convenience, which is what the tags will be, for the pirates.

Frankly I'd rather see them cut ISK from bounties by about 50% (along with loot nerf) and drop lots of these tags instead of ISK, instead of just officer and commander tags. More tags being dropped, and more of them needed for sec status gain, will allow the market more granularity and be more widley held.
