Hi Thanater Talvanen,

Could you paste your launcher.log file found in launcher/cache under the EVE Client directory to Pastebin and post the link to it here?
We are looking into these looping-issues and any extra log-files are greatly appreciated.

These are mine 0 to 25 infinite loop.

The data corruption issue is likely related to SPI filtering in your router or an AV / Firewall security package running on your computer which does protocol filtering. Try disabling them, download a new version of the repair tool, drop it into your Eve directory, and run it from there.

CCP is aware of this issue and they have yet to take any real action to fix it. Hopefully this is a easy fix for you.

Thanks for your attention on this. Unfortunately my launcher cache is 13MB, and pastebin only allows 0.5MB to unpaid users. Is there something specific you're looking for so I can excise it?

It must be the router since the same AV/Firewall software runs on my laptop whether I'm in the office or not, and I have no problem patching out of the office. I hope CCP's interest leads to a fix, as I could patch just fine at work before 1.5.

This could be related to proxies, but I cannot confirm it at this stage.
If you could submit a bug-report at bugs.eveonline.com with the launcher.log file attached, I could use that in our ongoing investigation.

So, I think, I can help you and other players with the same error. In other thread someone recommend utility from Microsoft: Handle.exe to explore which file are locked. So, in my case it was './script/compiled.code'. I just deleted that and rerun repair.exe.

How to use this utility? Huh, its too hard to explain, because my english skills too small... just run repair.exe and wait, until process hung (after that will be error) and in that moment run in Command Line (cmd.exe with Administrator privileges) this command: handle.exe -p repair.exe and read what file in game directory currently readed by repair.exe. This is your problem file.

Game was working a day ago, now I'm having problems with the launcher looping at 25%. I'm doing my best to contain myself from expressing obscenities, I tried to submit a support ticket but that too failed!

I wish you guys would thoroughly test your software before pushing out to production.

To the point, how can I get a credit for 4 non playable days and counting?!

Can anyone that works for CCP provide a link HERE to where I can demand refund for my non playable days!

I have the same problem, initially had the loop problem, but was fixed with the release of the launcher update end of last week. All 3 clients worked fine without problems. Tried to go online today and now it's back to the looping problem when it tried to patch to the latest release!

Is there any information I can get on why when I press play on the launcher, I get the game loading splash screen then nothing afterwards?

I have an instance of exefile.eve running in the processes tab in task manager but nothing else.
There is no repair issue as far as with running repair.exe 3.45
and i'm running the current launcher v.1.13

I also have no Anti-virus even on the comp (fresh install)
I copied the CCP file from a working HDD from another computer (if that helps)
and no previous versions of eve on it besides the super-fail intaller and payload executables(thats a whole other eve issue)

Also i can run eve on another computer (so no router issues)

Appreciate the help, from anyone :P

User rights on folder with game is correct, I suggest? Maybe EVE.EXE can't read some files because haven't right permissions?

Also, its better to place game folder in path without non-ascii symbols, like national characters. Like 'C:\CPP\TQ\'.

Hi Satch73,

Are you still having issue with this in the v1.13 of the launcher (Have you tried using the launcher today)?

Why did CCP change the launcher splash screen to be always-on-top in the latest launcher update? I used to be able to launch a second (or third, or sixth) eve client, then re-focus the first client and continue working while the new client loads. Now, I pretty much have to wait for the stupid splash screen to go away before doing anything, which is pretty annoying. Evil

Just installed EVE on a laptop with a fresh installation of Windows Vista X64
When I run eve the launcher comes up and displays "client ready"
When I try to launch eve the splash screen appears and disappears nothing else happens. If I open the task manager it shows exefile as running and subsequent attempts to launch happen the same with a new process exefile added to the list.
If I restart the computer and run the repair tool nothing happens on my screen, if I look in task manager it appears there for a very short time and disappears.

I don't see any errors anywhere. Please tell me what I should do, I want to play eve.

Ok I got tired of the installer and launcher not working on a clean comp, so I copied the programsfiles(x86)/CCP folder as well as the Users/[username]/appdata/local/CCP folder and placed them in their approipriate place in the new comp.

The launcher loads perfectly, but when I press play I get the splash screen then noithing happens. I do have a exefile.exe appearing in task manager. Other than that nothing.

Is there anyone that has installed eve this way?

This was the alternate method CCP prescribed if all else failed so a CCP response would be appreciated, or obviously anyone that knows.

Ok I've removed all CCP/eve files twice and re-downloaded them this i have to do manually as the excutable file down not work.
The repair tool does not work. Now i wish i hadnt paid for another year 3 weeks ago as it seems it a game i can no longer play due to the new launcher not working at all. It was working up until the last patch on the 21st. Dont know what the hells going on it get to 6/7 of the dl then kicks me off the net completely. Either fix it or give my money back its that simple.

Hello there, returning player here
I too am having many issues with the installation. After finally installing the game (downloading it all manually), the launcher ceases to work. Unlike some issues seen here, I have been able to use the direct EVE.exe to play. However, I won't be-able patch the game when necessary and this is clearly a problem.

Repair doesn't work.

For your information and hoping to shed some light on a fix, I am able to provide a fresh launcher cache file after trying to open the launcher for 1 cycle. I am not a programmer, but here's a snippet of something that might be of interest.

Quote:
ReaderError: 'utf8' codec can't decode byte #x8b: invalid start byte

Here's the log file:

Hi there, just started having some errors today.

Launcher Error

When I try to run the repair.exe, I get this lovely error in the log file:

Repair.exe Error

I have no clue what to do.
