After today's launcer patch

After updating the launcher today I get in game to find that ALL of my settings had been deleted. The EULA had to be scrolled, the intro movie was playing, all my chat windows gone, all my bookmarks for the browser gone, absolutely everything client side has gone into the trash. WHY??? Evil

Oh good, it's not just me then.

It's as if it's deleted the old settings file, or is looking for it somewhere else, not finding it, and creating a new one from a template.

Practically killed my poor laptop trying to draw captain's quarters on it's chipset.

Yep, all channels gone, overview reset, very annoying. And it's not the first time a new patch did this!

yep got the same issue very unimpressed, im guessing theres no way to restore my old settings too now also means i have to wait till my friend can get me a new invite back into one of the chat channels i was in (which isnt easy ince i havent even seen her in over a week). Very uncool

Ok seems its "easy" to fix, but it does involve exiting the game entirely and reloading/logging back in. but it seems that everythings back, i havent undocked yet to check my in space ui but at least my private and public chats are back

I copied 'prefs' from C:\Users\*my computer name*\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility\settings

and put it here:
C:\Users\*my computer name*\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_progra~2_ccp_eve_tranquility\settings

and I got all my settings back.


CCP I would love to clean up all the crap in C:\Users\*mycomputername*\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE:

c_progra~2_ccp_eve_tranquility (now current i guess, does the '~' mean somethings been truncated here?)
c_program files (x86)_ccp_eve
c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility (what was çurrent')
c_users_*myconputername*_desktop_ccp_eve_tranquility


What can i ditch?

Can someone please buy CCP devs "Programming for Dummies" book?

Is anyone checking these brilliant ideas from consumer point of view before they are implemented.
The launcher is crap, all it does is make us click more before we play. While game is loading there's no indicator it's loading. I don't give a **** what launcher does for devs, implement it so that it isn't a hindrance for players who pay to play this game, and not for your increasingly annoying experiments.

All settings, chats, overviews gone, great job. WTF are you guys at CCP thinking?

I know it can't go smooth every time, but once in a while ... just for a change maybe?

I don't have time to play much, but every time i start eve there's some update ... how about a radical idea: TEST CRAP BEFORE YOU LAUNCH IT!

This worked for me YMMV

Logged into character and saw that windows were reset, logged out of the character without touching any windows, re logged into character, settings were restored.

Had to do this with one character on each account but at least I didn't have to re move them for every client.

Dev blog about the launcher clearly stated there is an option in the launcher settings for having the launcher not popup when starting eve unless there is a new patch to be downloaded. Reading comprehension for the win Roll

On the note about my settings randomly poofing on me...really? i mean really??? not cool when I have to fix your mistakes...

Your settings are NOT deleted, they are simply in a different folder.

It's still annoying, but you just have to move them to the new settings folder.

Please close EVE and the EVE Launcher and log back in to circumvent this issue.

At least you guys can start the game. I can't at all. Now it tells me that this launcher is 16-bit application which cannot be run in 64-bit system !!! Lovely! Nice present CCP to your FANFEST LOLOLOL

Hopefully it will help. I am afraid after installation it will download today's launcher which will corrupt itself again ..

Are you saying someone should read dev blogs in order to play the game? Seriously?

I mean, i like Eve, but this jumping through hoops and then CCP breaking things that aren't broken all the time is kind of frustrating.
