Expanding on exploration, the semi-newb dilemma

First off, I have had a blast with EVE thus far. I focused my training on exploration, particularly with the arbitrator, and made lots of isk while learning all about the various sites and even poking around in wormholes which proved to be a little much for a solo guy in a cruiser.

Anyhow, i'm trying to map out logical steps for my continued improvement in the trade of exploration. I've set up a second account to house another exploring character to provide another pair of eyes and help me cover more ground. My hope is to eventually find my way into a more advanced group of exploration types.

The way I understand it, wormholes are more or less the exploring "endgame," despite that being a little tounge-in-cheek terminology for EVE. Unfortunately, from what I understand, the only way to get the most out of wormholes is to actually live and set up a POS there. This does not appeal to me as a very nomadic player. I have never actually had assets to worry about coming back to as whatever I find gets sold in short order at the nearest hub marketplace. The idea of settling down really seem to hollow out the allure of exploring, covering vast distances of space, etc.

Am I right to assume then, that the non-wh exploration gig is a predominantly solo endeavor? Are there corporations out there who live a really nomadic lifestyle with an emphasis on exploring and pvp (I certainly haven't run across any advertising their existence) or am I looking for a unicorn?

Most corporations band together to create some form of structure and base, so there's many corps out there who live in WH, making use of POS and whatnot. Nomadic, by its very nature, generally means solo or with a small group of close friends. There are PVP entities who roam all across the map but those are rare and as said, that doesn't really work for exploration much.

If you'd create an alt I'd go for a blockade runner, specifically the Minmatar one as it has 2 high slots so you can fit a probe launcher on it. They're fast enough to avoid problems (they move and align like frigates) and has the cargo to store your ammo, loot and whatnot.

Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

Exploration is fun, and I'm glad you found your niche. Corporations that empasize exploration generally live in wormholes yes that is true, but the great thing that happens in Eve is that if it doesn't exhist, do it yourself. Create a corporation for nomad explorers.

MMOs come and go, but Eve remains.  -Garresh-

Hi there!!

You seem to be already doing what I want to be doing :)
I'd love to hit you up ingame and chat about exploration - you are probably a little further along than me :)

Alternately, grab a high-damage set of ships and raid the people doing the work in WHs by scanning them down, or scanning the sites down and then sneaking about with d-scan until they come out to mine or whatever.
