Why doesn't the Mac Launcher have to option to only start if there is an update, like the Windows Launcher??

And why not an option not to be obtrusive? I can't bring any other windows on top of it when it's launching. That's bad UI. To make matters worse, now that Cider doesn't support window Mode, I have to use the Eve client window mode. The client starts in full-screen, then switches to window mode, which is another annoying bad UI mistake.

People use their computers for multiple things, even at the same time. This isn't Mac OS 6.08.

There's also no button to run the repair tool, or any kind of useful information about the repair tool for Mac at all.
I can't find any information on it anywhere, period. Which is sorta problematic because I need to repair my client, and the launcher cannot do that on a mac.

Hi all,

The reason for this is that we would have no way to get the Launcher back after this setting is set since we have no shortcut to force the Launcher like we do on windows. The only way to get it back would be during client updates. So for the initial release we decided to disable the option. We're still looking into introducing them and our goal is to have parity between the windows and Mac launcher.

We currently don't offer a repair tool on the Mac and we have not for some time. We know that this is bad because the only way for Mac players to resolve issues is to reinstall. We are however looking into developing a repair tool for the Mac client but I don't have any timeframe for when that tool would become available.

Having said that, we're about the release a Launcher update today:

Windows and Mac:
• A host of logging improvements.
• Fixed an issue where the Launcher Updater couldn't be properly overwritten.
• Multiple Launcher Updaters can now be run simultaneously, provided that they are being run from different directories. This should ease the lives of multi-client users when a Launcher update is issued.
• Further fixes for non-ASCII paths.
• Players are now always presented with an option to play, regardless of whether or not content servers are down.
• The Launcher now defaults to Tranquility if it's given a /server: argument that it does not recognize.
Windows:
• Uninstalling the game now properly removes the Launcher shortcut in the Start Menu.
• Clicking "Next" with "Play EVE Online now" box checked at the end of client installation will now start the Launcher.
Mac:
• Fix for Mac graphics performance issues.
• Fix for Mac file permissions issues.
• Commandline arguments are now correctly passed to the client from the Launcher, allowing players to use the Launcher to patch a second EVE installation to Singularity, if desired.

Hm, seems the update reset my client and everything. Was that intentional? I don't care, but there be a shitstorm a brewin' if it happened to everyone again

Edit. Oh, this was the mac thread, I'm on windows. Still, valid comment
