Spaceships are all the rage right now, seriously, watch this space.

Would one of you guys explain "watch this space" please?

It seems you are saying to watch this thread? Or do you mean the forums? Or is this some silly pun? What on earth are you guys talking about? Or should I say, what In "space" are you guys talking about?

Seriously...

Dex was here. Cool

Ditto to that sentiment.

"Watch This Space" is a post that is worse than useless. Give us details, or shut up about it until you can give us details. This whole "bait the player-base with vague assurances of future content" got stale months ago.

If we didn't have to pin you to the ground and force you to take actions that won't ruin your own game next time,

that would be great.

Hilmar is an idiot and needs to seriously reassess how he looks at his company and it's assets.

Drill this into your heads CCP, our subscriptions are paid in return for an expected service. You have no right to them, do not assume we will continue to pay them if you do not provide the service and game we expect.

About 2 months left on my account. Still not going to re-up. As much as I enjoy what you're saying, by forcing us to take such drastic actions instead of listening to our warnings and communications we fed you time and time and time again... well, you forced our hands and now I'm bound by the same logic your dear leader held.

We appreciate the communications but it means nothing. Your mouth to god's ears.

I'll see what you actually do before you get another red cent from me. Words mean absolutely nothing.

Giving you details means nothing. A post on the forums does not make a thing so.

Go count how many 'details' and promises devs have made over the years that panned out to nothing. Talk is cheap.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I totally agree. But details are a good start so we know what we should be looking for in the next patch, rather than just guessing.

And at this point I regard anything not in the very next patch to be vapor at best.

I hope this includes fixing warp tunnels and bringing back engine trails. That would be a significant part of winning back my faith because both are important to me and both represent fixes that are overdue.

Fix what needs to be fixed then bring new stuff. Please for the love of god stop bringing out broken content which you then take months if not years to fix with contant patches. You end up patching the patches that were supposed to patch the patches. Don't rush things but don't take too long, give EVE the attention it deserves and requires. Only then will the trust be put back into CCP, for now we are angry and will continue to be which you should understand why (saying something won't put our minds at ease, we want to actually see something happening).

I can't help but think this would have been much better received if it had been posted by someone/anyone else.

The sentiment is excellent but if you're going to do a devblog that's all talk no meat (which is fine sometimes) Mr $1000 Pants may not have been the best choice. The CSM would surely have told you that if you'd asked.

When was the last time Hilmar posted something? Maybe he should be 'fearless' and have a go?

CCP Navigator,

I am seeing a pattern here. In general the "rabble" (quoting Zulu) has been at least receptive to what anyone having a red or blue tag has to say. Unfortunately for CCP Zulu, there it appears there is residual anger toward him from the subscribers (at least those that pay attention to the forums).
Additionally, there is a perceived loss of credibility. Also, it seems like he is apt to lose his temper at times...

IMO the only person who is capable at this point of generating more "heat" is Hilmar.

I am sure Zulu is a good person and is generally repentant. I am sure he loves the game.

However, (again IMO) he should be very careful blogging and posting. Where a post in jest is received as such from other devs, a "watch this space" post or something similar from Zulu is akin to a war dec.

I shudder to think what fanfest will be like if Zulu or (have mercy!) Hilmar go on stage if this is not resolved...

Good Luck We are all counting on you....

This would seem to have been an excellent oportunity for the Hilmar to post something. If the whole company is changing direction wouldn't the CEO be the best person to tell us? Isn't Zulu the Lead developer for Eve only? They have other games right?

I doubt anything Zulu posts before stuff is actually delivered is going to be well receieved by the rabble, but he knew that right?

Well this is interesting, I would love some "cool new stuff", and of course fixing all the broken old stuff, like POS rights (can't give rights to make stuff without at the same time give rights to offline the POS), hybrids, sov, supers, dreads, nerf minmatar and much more Lol.

And while you're at it fix the Gallente maurauder, it should be a drone boat with cool whale skin (Dominix, free willy) or maybe new hull.

The vocal community of Eve is going to be the death of Eve.

CCP has at the last fan fest offered a Balance approach to gaming, 50% resources to Fixing the old stuff and 50% adding new stuff.

Now I am seeing to sides saying fix what you have and the others saying we want more bling!
I hear the community start complaining about resources being diverted away from Eve and put into 2 additional product lines like World of Darkness and Dust 514 that will be using Carbon Technology.
Technology battle tested through the play of eve.

I have been up till now: CCP is a level headed company sailing though the chaotic waters of public opinion swayed by the currents of the Vocal Minority. Till I saw this statement:

Over the past days and weeks, CCP has been doing extensive and intense introspection and revitalization. The result of this is a refocusing and reprioritization on a scale unheard of within our company.

/\ /\ /\ This is what scares me. CCP wavering to the demands of the Vocal Minority who, for the most part are bitter old vets that have exhausted their niche to the point it is simple wash and repeat and press the I win button a few times. They have lost the wonder, the mystery of learning. Now they feel they are experts and “DEMAND” explanations, nor the smallest of items, like: “Watch this space”

The Eve Community has to take responsibility for its action, think of the pros and cons of what they say. Think of a fix, or positive suggestion before just blurting out in anger.

If you are so bitter, I strongly recommend cheating on eve, “sorry CCP” go play some other games casually. See what they a have to offer, then return to the forums, mention to people what worked and didn't work in other games. Stop making generic comments like Fix Blasters, tell us what you would like blaster to do or change but still be different than Lasers or Projectiles? Tell us what unique attributes other games have that differentiate the different choices of ammo.

In summary it is the response threads that are full of trolls-galor that make me just want to read the Dev blog and ignore the responses. I personally like the Features and Ideas section. Where Dev responses are far and few between, leaving the trolls who are looking for Dev attention out of that section.

After thought
What would be the effect if Devs never Directly responded to people. Never a quote.
First make a post, then though several alts post clarifying questions probing to find the root cause of the problem and then make a summary final post 3 days or more later. (But make sure that this process is explained in advance. )

Someday I will have the time to play. For now it is mining afk in High sec. In Cheap ships

Zulu you cannot assume that you have the same relationship with us that you did prior to monoclegate...

You "cheated" on us..we caught you red handed...its going to take a lot of flowers and chocolates to assuage our hurt feelings..

I know its hard...I know you feel misunderstood...but any good relationship worth saving requires hard work...be humble my friend...be strong...we love you but we need to rebuild our trust in you...

My favorite Flower is the POS and I love Sov flavored chocolates in case you wanted to know Blink

I think they should be in F & I more than in Eve D.

CCP is looking for direction and many, many ideas go unanswered in that subsection. A response here and there as to what is acceptable and/or feasible could really steer the conversation there in a productive direction..

The PI 2.0 thread is the best thing I've ever read in there. Sure the Dead Horse PoS thing is good, but I can't even wrap my head around how they'd go about replacing current PoS's with the modular ones without it being a catastrophe for one group or another.

The PI 2.0 stuff is brilliant, and can slide right into the current system.

Can't wait to dual box my Dust toon and EVE toon on the same machine!

That blog should have been posted directly after the Jita Riots, now that would have been a signal.
This is just a panic reaction to the bleeding of the ongoing unsubscribing.

You are now on of 'them' companies CCP, who only react when the wallet is hurt.
Once you where a company where talented people worked on the best game around, while making good money,
now its the other way around and that is a shame.

You just want your 'rabble crowd' to believe that everything is going to be o.k. now.
Because your company now works the other way around, i know it is not going to be fixed soon.
Thanks for the fish.
