I'm really going to enjoy shooting people with the - oh wait, it's PS3 exclusive and therefore nobody is going to play it.

What I really look forward to is when the PS3 version fails, CCP's grand plans for Dust/EVE integration fail, and they are forced to release a PC version to salvage the game. I just hope that CCP sees the inevitable reasonably quickly.

Well considering that there's a man portable Auto-cannon, I would be surprised if they didn't have one. Though you shouldn't expect the dropships to be a push over.

Last time I checked Armour was invented after the creation of the word Armor, as well as all the other similar wordings according to the Dictionary Britanica.

Grideris is there going to be racial symetry of any sort (like every race has at least 1 tank) how that tank works is though racially themed? Or is it going to be like one race has one type of weapon and nobody else has a interation of doing the same role.

Dust 514's CPM 1 Iron Wolf Saber Eve mail me about Dust 514 issues.

thanks and i won't be underestimating dropships. I'm a BF3 vet and there was never a handy Mobel AA around when you needed it to shoot down good copter pilots who could dodge any missile you send their way. i'm guessing that Dropship pilots will be just as good(if not better) so a point and shoot AA will be a godsend rather than having to relly on guidence systems.

These questions need answering if the EVE player base are to accept Dust:

(1) Cost
How much money has and will be spent in development of Dust and associated Dust technology?
How much money will be apportioned to the server infrastructure to support Dust?
How much marketing $ have and will be spent in promotion of Dust?
How much EVE online revenue have and will be spent in development, promotion and support of Dust?

(2) Features
How many Dust players will be necessary for the link between EVE & Dust to work effectively?
What impact will low numbers have on the EVE economy?
What impact will high numbers have on the EVE economy and support staff requirements to handle high numbers?
In the event of high numbers, will EVE staff be reallocated?
In the event of low numbers, will Dust staff be allocated to EVE instead?

(3) Failure
What are the circumstances for CCP to categorize Dust as a failure?
What are the circumstances for CCP to categorize Dust as a success?
What does the ROI need to be in the first month? the first quarter? the first 6 months? the first year?

(4) Contingency
In the event of catastrophic failure: poor reviews, low income, low player count, atrocious and/or uncompelling game-play mechanics with little risk/reward ratios neatly implemented; will CCP admit defeat and 'offline' the game? OR will CCP dogmatically 'stick to their guns' and run the game into the ground, apportioning revenue from other sources (EVE) in a vain attempt to make a success of a party with no attendees?

All other questions are secondary - because there are plenty of games out there which have guns in them.

Those questions will obviously not be answered until AFTER Dust 514 comes out since we have no foundation to base any of our assumptions on. By foundation I mean having experienced a prior version of its release (ie: beta testing) and since even the beta hasn't come out yet, we might as well be shooting blindly in the dark as we do nothing but imagine and speculate.

Are you suggesting CCP Games do not have the answers for these questions?

That's quite a comment to make, if that is your comment.

Releasing a new game in the days of 100+ size dev teams, it is not just logical thought process to have the answers to these questions prior to release, you have them prior to development of the game.

Would you give $20 million to a company if they didn't have a plan, other than 'make awesome game'?

They have the answers, believe me, they just do not want to answer them as this information could then be used against them in the future.

The fact that Dust & EVE are supposed to be 'one universe' and yet they do not even have a 'general discussion' place holder on these forums (and they recently redesigned the website) speaks volumes.

End the speculation CCP. Answer the questions, link the community forums and release the damn beta, so I can plugin my Black Magic Intensity Pro and give it an honest review.

Because when real news is close at hand, the entertainment in speculation dwindles. Why be proven wrong when everyone can remember it? Better to have a lot of time between your predictions and being proven wrong, that way no one remembers it. Smile
