I want to fly a Dreadnought!

Hello space friends.

My name is Lyris Chronicles of Narnia in the World of Tomorrow's Goonfleet dot Com; the intrepid Sky Captain of Your Heart; the Most Esteemed Spacebook Superstar of All Time; Good Poster Extraordinaire, and Space Friend to All. I come to you today with my hat in my hand and with my doe-like eyes and quivering lip turns towards you, O Beneficent One, to beg Your council on the Dreadnought-class space ships here in the EVE Online, the same being a popular Internet spaceship game produced by CCP, hf.

I am an EVE player of a few years now, and this character is nearing 70 million skill points of entirely sub-capital (and mostly Rifter-oriented) skills and points to do with skills. I have fives in pretty much every support skill that is relevant to sub-capital ships, and I am ready to step it up to baby's first Capital Ship. To that end I hope to enlist You fine, distinguished fellows, in determining which ship o' the line I should choose to be mine. I have Amarr Battleship 5, Gallente Battleship 5, and Minmatar Battleship 5; so, pretty much any of them except for the Phoenix is a feasible possibility. I have excellent armour skills, gunnery skills and shield skills, as well as full missile support skills.

My question is born not of which ship I am most able to fly in a reasonable time; instead, it is of which is best suited for the present meta-game, and which is the most convenient for me to fly. I look forward to replies!

If it helps, my tastes run towards Charmander rather than Bulbasaur, and Stoutland is probably the best Pokemon.

The moros is notably better than the others ATM, not that dreads get much use, and I'm only responding to this probable troll because you spelled both armour and dreadnought properly.

Can you explain, concisely and fluently, why you choose this prioritization over other possible prioritization?

I do not troll, sir; however, I do speak the Queen's English.

As it happens Goonswarm Federation (of whom I am a member) is finding increasing use for Dreadnoughts and one of our fleet commanders whose fleets I prefer not to attend is notably absent from the CAPSWARM command structure. It's a win-win for me. I am curious, would you mind explaining the superiority of the Moros? I have not given it a look since they nerfed its 50%-per-level drone damage a couple of years previous.

I am a fan of the Revelation because of the innate advantages of lasers and POS sieges. The blaster Moros seems especially well suited for close up engagements such as happen on WHs and hot dropping station hugging caps.

Ask your FC whether he wants to prioritize structure bashing and/or range (Rev) or raw damage (Moros). Choose accordingly.

Why would a goon be asking anyone but other goons about advice on cap ships?
Further, since you are running for CSM, I would have expected you to be well-versed in ALL areas of Eve play, and that includes Dreads. Especially Dreads if you are in goons.

But then again, goons are slime and liars so not surprised that one would run for CSM even though they don't know basic null sec ships.

Moros does the most deeps and deeps is what you want. So it got the first place.
Revelation doesn't consume any ammunition, but does less deeps than a Moros, but you can shoot all day long.
Naglfar is half ****, but vertical. Seriously, 50% of the weapon systems are ****.

Oh and our wiki is outdated as usual on that topic, so don't read it.

10 specialized CSM Members are much better than 10 jack of all trades.

This. Do you need your dread choice to align with and support your corp's/alliances's strategy, or do you just want one for screwing around, i.e. personal use?

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

I forgot to mention that the Naglfar is the best nano dread. If you need to bump low sec supercaps to keep them from warping out, the Naglfar is definitely the dread for you.

-Liang

Ed: Also, don't forget to fit neuts on your nano Naglfar. Its really important that you keep his cap below the required levels to just jump out.

I'm an idiot, don't mind me.

I am heavily leaning towards the Revelation for its utility in structure shots (which are most of what our hypothetical, totally non-existent and entirely theoretical CAPSWARM would do if it existed; moreover, I am really liking the idea of being able to turn on the guns and turn my attention away from the EVE client without feeling guilty that I have forgotten to reload the ammunition and continue firing the guns during protracted engagements. I am simply aware that the Moros has accolades supporting it, and for that reason I come to You, the arbiter of the court of public opinion, for answers.

With respect, nothing that I can envision myself doing with a Dreadnought will ever involve low security space. I do appreciate that you're going for a comprehensive reply, though! Thanks for that.

Why would a goon be asking anyone but other goons about advice on cap ships?

I will not be drawn into speculating about other goons, or goons in general, because I don't like to make generalizations; however, my personal motivation for asking someone other than goons is to poll the community, post in the community, have a pleasant conversation with the community, and in general not be a conceited, insular person who spurns everything but his own in-group.

Show me a man who claims to know everything about even one subject, and I will show you a liar.

I am definitely going to go for supporting the CFC strategy since to my understanding carriers are much better ships to have for the purpose of individually screwing around, owing to their superior jump range, superior carrying capacity, and a few other variables specific to null sec.
