Central MMORPG Bank

Don't ask me how it would be done, but I thought it was an interesting enough of an idea to expose myself to the flames and post it.

We all play MMORPGs. Many of us play more than one (often at same time! :P). We earn assets in game A, then move on to game B, then game C. In every game we move on from we leave behind a legacy of assets and currency, going wasted and unused, never to be seen again.

Or are they?

What if there was some sort of central “MMORPG Bank” where, like the World Bank, goods and currency could be traded from one game to the next? Quitting SWTOR to go back to EvE? Contact your local SWTOR Bank representative and negotiate a deal, then transact your SWTOR credits and non-bound gear for ISK, to be given to you by the EvE Bank rep.

Obviously, you would have to create a exchange rate of some kind between the different MMORPGs. After all 100,000 credits in SWTOR does not equal 100,000 ISK in EvE.

And no, you wouldn’t be able to RMT your goods. Those of you who do RMT don’t need any more help doing what you do.

Just an FYI, this would never happen in EVE, because it violates the ToS - you may not exchange goods or services in EVE for goods or services in another game.

Why would any MMO want this? It encourages leaving their game for something else.

All this would do is devalue all the currencys in all the games.

Think about it, one of the largest sinks of currency and items is people leaving, take that away and games stagnate even faster.

No offense but that's tarded. I was gonna explain why but nevermind. I can see why without thinking it through it sounds like a good idea, but it's not :)

And why would Game A want to help you transfer your subscription dollars to Game B? And why would Game B then be keen to help make your life easier when you ditch them for Game C?

So the guy that owns the space station in Entropia Universe and is sitting on a few hundred thousand dollars of real-world value for that item can transfer that to EVE (With an Exchange Rate) and suddenly create a massive spike in the ISK available within EVE Online?

What do you think that will do to the market place in EVE?

Then, what happens if Game A allows me to farm gold very easily. Such as Auctioneer in World of Warcraft. Even at a low exchange rate it might allow me to create a metric **** tonne of money in Game A and transfer it to Game B where it is a lot more difficult.

I get the feeling you had what sounded like a nice idea, but did not consider it in any depth.

Or not play and use the time to get real life things done but still accomplish something in game. I love trying to explain this idea to people when they for some reason see grind =/= skill training as a bad thing.

This is a great idea and I fully endorse it.

Please send me all ISK that you want converted into other game currencies and I will convert it.

Directly into my wallet.
