Simple question... In addition to CCP's current focus on EVE gameplay, if CCP only had the resources to dedicate to one other feature/product, would you choose Dust 514 or Walk in Stations?

Dust 514, as it's further along than WiS and they need to get it up and running and earning.

To be fair, I thought the same thing. But then I perused some of the titles available on PS3 but not on PC, and there's quite a few games I feel I might enjoy. Depending on how well Dust is received, I might consider grabbing a used PS3 cheap on EBay and trying it out.

Though obviously a PC version of Dust would make a whole lot more sense. Except I'm not sure how they're going to deal with cheating. Because, let's face it, PC + F2P = a heck of a lot of aimbotting.

Dust, but for an odd reason. I will not play Dust, but would partake in WiS. But Dust will most likely bring in more money to CCP, giving them the resources to complete WiS as well, whereas WiS will add no more to CCPs income than any other expansion, and would most likely not generate sufficient income to complete Dust.

Dust first, and we would get both, and much more resources for CCP to improve the game.

But; right now it looks like CCP has the resources to do Dust, the resources to make walking work (the effort on that being done by the 60 people working on WoD), and a few EVE Devs figuring out what we will be doing while WiS.

Anyone noticed that fanfest has EVE stuff, Dust stuff, and a WoD presentation? Fanfest is more and more going to cover all three games.

In fairness, if I could afford a PS3 I possibly would but I recently upgarded all my PC and money is somewhat (read that as very) tight at teh moment. The other bummer is that most of my freinds who do play console games actually have XBox's, which woul dhave been my consol of choice for exactly that reason. If they all had PS3s, It may be a different story. Maybe Ill suddenly come into a couple of hundred quid that my wife doesnt know about and accidentaly a PS3, who knows...

Trust me, I almost know what I'm doing.

I vote for bug fixes. No intention of using WiS, and zero interest in buying a console just to buy DUST.

I totally agree in that between WIS and Dust, Dust is the more promising one.

But as far as being able to bring more money to CCP? I'm not at all sure. For one, it's PS3 like mentioned so many times. Different kind of players there. I remember reading an article about Dust, and then scrolled down to comments section, and a bunch of people were saying things "sounds too complicated, won't bother to even try". You gotta remember that most console players are looking for instant pew pew, they can't be bothered with loadouts and planning and teamwork. If they can't rambo through it and see a nice far k/d ratio, they won't bother playing.

I know, I'm oversimplifying and doing console profiling and other bad things, but you get what I'm trying to say. Console players don't typically like overly complex games, simply because they're so used to oversimplified games on those platforms.

Next, the game is going to be F2P. And P2W, from the sounds of it. Now, recall if you will Battlefield Heroes. The game was doing quite well when it was simply F2P. As soon as they introduced P2W in the form of T2 weapons, everyone I knew that played it stopped playing. As a general rule, I won't touch a P2W F2P game. Cosmetic? Sure. But as soon as the weapons start to differ, or hitpoints, or running speed or anything else, that's when I put it down and walk away. And a lot of people feel the same way. TF2 is a good example of properly done F2P game that's not exactly P2W either.

Bottom line is, I'm not at all sure that Dust will bring much money to CCP. Especially when you factor in the amount of time and money it took to make it. Don't get me wrong though, I'll be friggin' ECSTATIC if the game takes off, I might even get a PS3 myself (as much for Dust as for some other titles I'd like to try). But if they sunk this must work and money into WIS, and actually took some player suggestions and put meaningful gameplay into it, I think it could potentially generate more income. I just don't see console players going "WoW, I gotta try EVE!" because of Dust and sticking around.

Oh yeah, I'm definitely not paying for a brand new PS3. I was thinking of grabbing a used one on EBay for under $100, they do some up every so often. Did the same thing for my PC when BF3 came out, same money problem...though being single I only have my conscience and credit card company to answer to... Lol

And yeah, I totally get what you mean, I actually had an XBox very briefly a long time ago, never had a PS console. Same for most people. And with the recent PSN hacking brouhaha, people are not exactly confident in it.

Dust
I like the idea behind it and if it is targeted at elder players of Battlefield; Modern Warfare ect., then I'm not against the idea at all.

But danger is it ends up attracts younger players, which will fill the forum with QQs how complicated EVE is and CCP starts to bake cookies and get cold milk from the fridge.

Walk in stations
It will come - why else introduce apparels and capt's quarters with a locked door you cant get through?

*Open the damn door CCP!*
