In CCP Zulu's latest dev blog he basically admits that they screwed up and ignored EVE and the FiS game for far too long. This is probably due to a dip in subscriptions which has impacted their profits. I have a solution that will help them in these harsh economic times: Let us buy features/bug fixes with PLEX. This would solve their love for micro-transactions while at the same time making the player base happy. This would increase profits and subscriptions at the same time! The list of features that we could put PLEX toward could be submitted by the CSM and approved by CCP.

Let's recap. Customers get what they want by paying for features/bug fixes. CCP gets want they want by having micro-transactions. The CSM gets what they want by actually being useful. It is a win-win-win scenario! LET'S MAKE IT HAPPEN!

They are already getting my money for my subscription.

Why would I want to buy plex's which already pays them for that only to give them that plex to get features that we dont need.

What we need are fixes...

Not supporting an another horrid idea.

They already have enough of my money....no excuses.

I wonder if they would even be useful then.

They are already getting paid to do their job of which its obvious they are not entirely focused on fixing bugs.

throwing money at the problme doesn't solve anything.

And this idea has alraeddy been shot down as its obviuosly given in prue unadultirated ignorance.

This isn't some "free to play" service.

As a subscriber I expect to get certain things...one of those things is support over features that should be fixed/patched without having to bribe the hell out of the company.

If I rent a car I don't wanna pay extra to make the engine work.

This is horrible idea.

What am I paying $15 a month for?

Here's how it works: if they don't fix bugs, people get frustrated and unsubscribe. If they don't add content on a regular basis, people get bored and unsubscribe. They have all the profit motive they need for maintaining and expanding Eve: if they don't, people leave. If there's been a dip in subscriptions already, then they've gotten all the feedback they need on their recent work.

If they add compelling content, people will subscribe again. If they want to sell more PLEX, make the game so awesome more people will PLEX up to get isk to buy the stuff they want.

Engine works fine. You just need to fuel it. $15 = rental fee. PLEX = fuel!

Your $15 has been to pay for the development of two other games. If you want EVE features/bug fixes you will have to pay additional for that. No one is happy paying $15. That is why we need a plan so everyone is a winner!

Older players would be coughing up Plex as much as they can for features & fixes they want.
Newer players would not only be unable to afford to have a voice, they would also be wondering why a game is such a mess as to be asking them to consider giving up their real or game currency for out-of-game work.

Suggesting people pay for fixes just will not fly.
Suggesting people pay for feature development can be considered at least.

In the end I disagree that this idea would speed up Eve development at all. What it would do is skew some development towards catering to the veteran players, more than is already planned. Maybe that's a good thing, maybe it's a bad thing, but that's the real issue with this idea, not speed. Should we give veteran players more power to sway development focus?

I think no, simply because a means for deciding the balance of development focus is already in place. What is fair to the vets, I assume, is already considered and applied. I may be wrong though.

If the idea did speed up development of features those vets want, without dampening development anywhere else, that wouldn't be a problem. But still I don't think the idea could be really be implemented in that way, so do not support it at all. It would be too hard to manage and convert Plex to genuinely non-intrusive extra development, and too easy to make a big unfair mess out of it.

This is the problem, my 15 should be paying for EVE, not two other games. Won't even mention how likely at least ONE of those two projects is going to fail... That quote is like punching your own face, good one!

A lot of good points in this thread, especially in opposition of the OP. CCP should take a hint from the drop in subs, but instead they do what they want anyway. Why bite the hand that feeds you? Hmm, CCP? CCP should be listening more to what players want, and fixing the existing features that are bugged and broken instead of introducing half-ass crap that is also bugged and/or broken and adds virtually no new content. I'm not ready to give up on this game, but as soon as my sub is doing more for WoD and that fail crap Dust514, I'm done.
