Im actually frustrated with the pice of crap to be honest... The new launcher makes the starting of my eve experience lengthy to put it mildly.

Launching 6 accounts before was only a matter of single clicking my icon 6 times, and then 6 clients would ramp up on my screen and load up.

Now i have to wait for EACH client to fully load before i can click again, or i will get a warning that there can only be one launcher instance of the game at any given time..

That means that in stead of taking maybe 30 seconds to launch 6 clients, i now have to spend almost 2 min to launch my clients..

Unhappy camper with the change..

Stop running the launcher every time then, it's just wasting your time.
Open up the shortcut you use for EVE and change the path to run "[appropriate path]\CCP\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe"
This assumes you run all your instances of EVE from the one install (which it sounds like you do), it will run the client directly taking you straight to the login screen w/o touching the launcher. Just bear in mind that if there IS a patch needed the client will annoyingly try to reinstall the launcher for you as i mentioned above, you can just close the client and run the launcher to get patched.

EDIT:Why when forum reloads a draft post (after eating it first time around) must it delete certain bits of punctuation?

I've set it up for only launch the launcher when update is present, and the exefile thing does not work..

I've got a couple of issues with the launcher as well. I have a Steam client.I bought the game over Steam for a good reason: I use the overlay to chat with people instead of trying to screw around with the PM system. I also use it to take and share screenshots, as well as watching any youtube videos my corpmates link in-game, seeing as EvE's built-in browser doesn't support Flash. The first problem is related to this. Simply put, with the launcher, the Steam overlay just doesn't work. The game no longer responds to Shift-Tab like it should, forcing me to alt-tab instead. Annoying.

Secondly, the launcher is unnecessary for Steam users such as myself. Steam supports the very thing you brought the launcher out to accomplish. Steam can handle deploying those tiny patches in a nice, timely manner. So why must Steam users put up with the launcher when Steam can already do everything the Launcher was built to do?

I, too, have the problem "clicking on Launcher links (like news items) opens a blank IE browser. Frustratingly, the launcher doesn't have any sort of right-click menu item for the links where one might find a "Copy URL" option. (Seriously CCP? Are your programmers that bad?)

I also had both my accounts' settings nuked with this most recent launcher update. Right back to "Scroll down to accept EULA" nuked. Full screen. Audio enabled. Horribad music blaring in my headphones. Seriously CCP? Are your QA people that incompetent?

I am not one of those ith problems with the launcher, but just today, at the emergency reboot, I noticed that the launcher and the client didnt seem to get the Online status for the server from the same place.

The launcher stated "ONLINE: xxxxx players, but the client said "Status: unknown".
Restarting the launcher did not clear that up, and it remained like that for several minutes.

Aside from that, I wuold suggest moving the MODT from the client to the launcher, to keep it on the same page as the server status of the launcher.

We're currently working on resolving the Steam overlay issue.

EVE isn't that closely integrated with Steam to make use of their patching process. This might change at some point to employ exactly the benefits you listed, but it isn't right now, and hasn't been in the past. If this changes, and we integrate with the Steam patching process, we'll announce it at that time.

The webpage that's loaded inside the Launcher gets the status via the API, where as the client gets it via a different means. Our Web team created the page, so I can't really comment on any of the technical decisions about beyond what I've said already Smile

The issue is due to Windows registry not returning what we expected.

One Issue with the launcher that I have not seen addressed is this:
None of the images or areas that are clearly intended to be links open up in a browser when clicked.

They open a blank page in IE on Windows 7 (64 bit)

They open fine however in Safari on OS X Lion.

I also have this problem on Windows 7 (64 bit). My default browser is Opera. Why is the Eve Launcher attempting to use IE rather than the default?

We query the registry to get the associated application for handling html, as returned by HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http\shell\open\command. It seems that not all browsers update this entry which is why you're finding it being opened by Internet Explorer and not your chosen default browser.

We're working on a solution for this so you should see it resolved soon.

How have you got your install setup? Do you have one install that you run 6 times? 6 separate installs? Where is it installed? Program Files? Somewhere else

I'm really curious about your configuration, since one of the issues we've encountered, is that without official support for multiple account holders who love to multibox, everyone has gone out and in a lot of cases, rolled their own solutions. I've seen people using batch scripts to launch multiple clients, bypassing and going straight to ExeFile.exe versus people installing to multiple drives, and then others using hard/softlinks or junctions. Each one poses different problems, so the more information you can give us on your setup, the better we can understand what you're doing and why, and come up with an appropriate solution

I use the same client for all 6 instances. And its located on a seperat disk, an ssd actually. in k:\games\eve-online

And yes i was running the eve.exe in the main folder.

So, correct me if I'm wrong, but your current process is to start the Launcher and then to click the play button 6 times? Or do you have the Launcher configured to only show if there's an update

I just tried it on my computer and simply waited for the splash screen to disappear before starting another client )by clicking the play button)

This may be old news, but the launcher, when left alone, should look if there is a new version periodically. Say, daily around 1230 UTC. If updates are to be downloaded, it should commence, automatically. Not wait for the user to come around and get annoyed waiting. =D

Dito here, I still get IE when clicking a link with a blank page, like the patch notes. I have to click the patch link on the client as it always was, launcher wont work. Other then that the launcher works fine.

Am I in the minority dealing with the launcher patch progress still getting to 25% and then looping back to 0%? Is there a fix that I just don't know about? The strange thing is that this looping behavior occurs at work, and if I walk down the street to Starbucks with my laptop the laucher patches just fine. Then I can come back to work and play on breaks and at lunch with no problem.

Game was working a day ago, now I'm having problems with the launcher looping at 25%. I'm doing my best to contain myself from expressing obscenities, I tried to submit a support ticket but that too failed!

I wish you guys would thoroughly test your software before pushing out to production.

To the point, how can I get a credit for 4 non playable days and counting?!

Can anyone that works for CCP provide a link HERE to where I can demand refund for my non playable days!

kind regards

Hi Thanater Talvanen,

Could you paste your launcher.log file found in launcher/cache under the EVE Client directory to Pastebin and post the link to it here?
We are looking into these looping-issues and any extra log-files are greatly appreciated.
