Are Legion fleets better than Machariels for Incursions?

I'm currently flying a Mach, but on fleet chat I keep hearing how great Amor Legion Fleets do for Incursions. Anyone ever flown both that can comment on which is better? What's confusing to me, is that all the Legion fits I see on Battleclinic and that I make on EFT have far less DPS than a decent Mach fit. How can they be better at Incursions when there DPS is less? If they are so much better I'm thinking of training up for a Legion then.

Thanks

Legions are better in NCOs ... Machs in OTAs ... Will be a tighter match in NMC but still prolly goes to machs.

If your allready a mach pilot then your just fine and shouldnt worry a thing.

The thing with legions is that they apply their lesser dps numbers more faster on the targets due to awesome locking speed and very decent tracking (note that the weapons are cruiser sized vs machs BS quality). Legion will happily smack good hits on the frigate targets even without any webs on them.

So essentially on fast sites like the NCO a legion fleet will decimate the enemy frigates before machs get to even lock on and try to fire. On the sites with BS size sanshas the machs can utilize their better engagement range and higher DPS numbers and win.

Thanks for the information. Do you think that the Legion NCOs one makes more ISK/hr than the Mach OTAs if the fleets are comparably shiney?

In theory yes ....

In practise it would come down to nothing but luck. Afterall the sites spawn in randomly ... and other fleets are after those too.

Machs are nice for the bigger fleets too incase CCP sees fit to buff those finally so that their rewards surpasses the VG sites.

Overall the isk/hour of legion fleets versus faction shield BS fleets is mostly equal. Legions will complete an NCO much faster than a faction BS, but the opposite is true with OTA's. Usually the limiting factor on isk/hour comes down to more reducing travel time/rewarping than being able to finish a site 30 seconds faster. Given an empty system with unlimited spawns a Legion fleet could potentially make more isk/hour if only NCO's spawned endlessly, but in reality with Faction BS's make up the lost time by completing NMC's and OTA's faster. When running an equal mix of sites, the overall isk/hour is pretty much on par with possibly a slight favour to faction BS's since OTA's are exponentially faster with more dps.

When in high population incursions, income generation really isn't limited by fleet compositions. With a lot of people competing sites, the "metagame" and system awareness of what competition is operating in the area means the difference between 60-80mil isk/hour fleets and 100+ mil.

If you do train for a Legion, toss in some caldari BS and train up large lasers for a Nightmare as well.

More faster? I wasn't going to nit pick, but then I read that... "More faster"..huh.

Right click those red lines too.
