So I have sort of learned SOV, Null, Lowsec, Indy and learning PVP but I can't seem to find any guides on Drone regions. What is the difference with them. What are they about and what is pro's and cons of them. I want to learn about them just can't seem to find anything on them. Any Experts out there that can tell me what is so cool about them and what is so not cool?

It's a very low true sec null-region with the exception being that there are only drones and nothing but the drones and a legion of Russians. P

There are also no bounties on drones just alloys though CCP is going to change which is one reason for the spike in zydrine costs. Even though the truesec is low its seen as the worst space since there is no faction loot at all. Its generally the place people go if they are doing heavy industry with capital production as it goes faster with all the alloys.

Also in drone space there are a lot of pet entities because the russians (shadow of xxdeathx) rent their space out for income.

The Drone Regions are a group of regions that CCP added to the Sov Null-Sec network, they are located in the North-East of of the map. Etherium Reach, Kalevala Expanse, Outer Passage, Malpias, Oasa, and Cobalt Edge are all low truesec distant regions in the game, running logistics to and from the drone regions usually requires more than one JF jump from empire; some regions (Cobalt Edge and Outer Passage can take up to 4 JF jumps to get into the region).

The recent spike in zydrine is due to the fact that CCP will be eliminating drone alloy drops when drones are destroyed and replacing them with bounties (just like all the other rats). This has caused market speculation that minerals will be more difficult to obtain because a great deal of raw minerals are 'produced' in the drone regions. The fact that a solo ratting ship can produce more minerals per hour ratting than actually mining in a hulk has made the drone regions a haven for supercapital production, some of these minerals are also shipped to empire as an export. Some drone region entities are largely self sufficient, producing almost all materials that they need locally.

Speculation is that after the bounties are added to the rats, the drone regions will become worthless. Time will tell if this is true.

This (I suspect) alt sums up the issue pretty succinctly, and so my post is only here to add a few relevant details:

Crucible introduced a bug fix to a high end Drone anomaly which was previously able to rapidly produce mineral high-ends when AOE smart bombing down all spawned waves with a smart bomb fit cap (usually a carrier or super carrier). This led to some low-end initial speculation on mineral changes a few months back.

Drone alloys also effect minerals greatly due to their highly compressed nature. This compression, beyond the most efficient modules or the (generally unused) compressed ore, serves to make the logistical hassle of moving the large amounts of ore necessary to produce super capitals in 0.0 significantly easier.

Finally, the presence of drone materials and their heavy use is what makes mining generally poor as a profession in EVE, as it sources most of the high end minerals in the game. The depressed prices mean mining gives a poor return compared to other activities, such as ratting, incursions, or missions.
