Hey, Been playing on and off for awhile. I am mostly a care bear mining player. I do have an alt for combat - nothing serious. When, as a mining care bear I lose a ship I buy and fit another(I can do this because i never fly a ship I cannot afford to lose) I might curse to my corp mates about the nefarious ganker who caught me(usually not pirates who get me cause they usually don't come to hi-sec for the sole purpose a grieving 1 miner). I mine cautiously, aligned to station and when i am out in a belt I stay by the keyboard waiting for the danger to become real. The danger is there and it's why I play. I have earned the ships I fly, and know how to use them. I do not fall for the jetcan or rat wreck tricks to get me to die at the hands of concord.
What I do not do is post in these forums - especially not in C&P about how a nasty ganker/pie rat, or other person of dubious qualities killed my poor ship. It was my mistake. I was not attentive enough, or did not have a good enough fit, and the person who got me got me because of my mistake. They are part of this game, they are the spice, dirty rotten blistards that they are, and part of the reason I play. If the game gets too nerfed I will leave, and I am a care bear saying that. I hope all the pirates die a gloriously blazing death, but not because of a nerfed game. so in closing HTFU, get over it, don't post bounties that the player will use an alt or corp mate to collect(duh, didn't think of that didcha?) never fly a ship you cannot afford to lose and learn how to fly the ship you want to fly before you fly it. Hope you enjoy your experiences in EVE, know I do - good and bad.. cause it is a GAME! lol.

No offense buddy but you may want to consider another game. The fit on that dominix is so....SO ******** that you've just provided an example of what not to fit to every noob in EVE, you literally could not have done it worse. Your mistake was that you lost the game at the fitting screen, care bear or not. Learn to fit your damn ship properly.

www.battleclinic.com is a good place to start before you consider undocking again.

Dearest Kim. I am writing on behalf of Crushed Ambitions to state that we are sorry and appalled at the loss of your dual buffer shield and armor tank Navy Domi, which you also fitted so fashionably with large lasers, medium projectiles, and railguns.

On a personal note, does that overdrive injector help much with the speed of your 4 1600mm + 2 800mm armor plate ship? I hear armor like that makes you slower than a neanderthal at a MENSA convention.

API Verified. I can hardly believe it either.

I don't even.... Have you ever even thought to at least Bing/Google a Navy Domi "Mission" Fit? Shocked

PVP/PVE either way I believe it was a favor to you that you lost your ship.

Either you have a nice backer, are a mining/mission running fool (somehow unlikely considering fit), LOL Troll, or you are using Plex to buy these ships with complete disregard on how to properly use them.

To compare to another game (World of Tanks) It is almost like a player who buys a Gold tank (Type59/Lowe) without a game played in the starter Tier tanks to learn the basics.

But you know...it's good that people fit ships out like this and actually learn from mistakes. If you never try something and make a mistake, you never learn anything. OP has a good attitude about it. Of course if CCP had anything to say about it, based on their actions over the past year, they'd probably introduce pre-fitted ships with no player choice or interaction at all...just hold your damn hand some more until the game becomes a boring sequence of predetermined events...and then dies.

FWIW, I think the tutorial could stand to spend a little time on "fitting theory" by teaching noobs how to understand the basics of weapon systems, bonuses, and that sort of thing. It would lead to a lot fewer failfit rookies not understanding why their laser cormorant isn't fairing so well.

I'd rather see more player interaction than fully automated 'new player experiences'. I understand your point, but sometimes the best way to learn is by doing and failing, asking for advice, learning and then doing it again.

I have been thinking about why and how this Navy Domi could come to this fit. This is how I rationalize it in my head.

I got bored and wrote a script to interpret my rationalization.

Fade to Exterior. Slow zoom into bridge of the Dominix Navy Issue Battle ship – Dim glow of the sun behind the floating craft. Perhaps anticipating its eventual destruction but proud under its massive armor plating. The Dominix Navy Issue sits like a space born monolith, immobile within its bulk. Engines protruding out of it like small fire crackers attached to a bowling ball, perhaps with the same effect.

A perplexed Captain Chang perches on the edge of his captain’s chair. Sitting motionless hand on chin and staring into the void of space and perhaps beyond. Silence is his only friend. Having ‘spaced’ all crew after his mandated ‘upgrades’ he laughs to himself what idiots they were, what lack of vision they had. The called him a fool when he demanded the shield extenders to be tripled. They whispered him ‘mad’ when he put forward the requisition to increase the armor plating tenfold. He softly giggled to himself ‘look who is mad…. And look who is dead’.
Frequent arguments with his first officer lead him to believe the ship would be vulnerable on the interior as well as the exterior. He wasn’t having it.

His idea was simple, modeled after a planetary vegetable. An onion, the perfect creation of defense, layer upon layer, peal one back and another quickly takes its place. WHY couldn’t they SEE this? Their lack of vision was their undoing. He explained in more than one staff meeting, how simple it all was. A multi layered defense combined with multi layered attack. Ying and Yang! Positive and negative! One unable to overcome the other, both true sides of the same coin. Any attacker would first run through a nearly impenetrable ring of 720 mm howitzer shells followed up with heavy drones. While the howitzers were reloading yet another volley of 250mm prototype rail guns would surely dissuade any attacker from persisting. “Lasers!!” he shouted at the wall, the missing piece of the puzzle! What if the attacker would come in with a total disregard for projectile warfare? This is how he would he stop them. Lasers. It was so simple. Mounting lasers to fill the gaps between the wall of drones and lead, a impenetrable curtain of light and lead.

But what of my precious ship? What if by chance a single bullet should pass by a seemingly impenetrable wall of offence? Shields more shields than any ship has ever had before, more raw power to deflect any but most determined foe. Even if the shields couldn’t possibly refresh themselves during a fight, his multi-dimensional offence would destroy any attackers. HA HA… he thought to himself. But wait... don’t be so hasty old Chang’y my boy…. You nearly forgot about your previous engagements, where the shield were in fact penetrated. He would use the weak refresh of the shields to his advantage! Give an aggressor a false sense of accomplishment, so an attacker commits his ship to a pending trap. Armor… more armor than any ship has ever been fit! They would hit a great wall of metal and bulk heads. This would be his greatest gift to the universe, the gift of the “BATTLE ONION!”

The difference between innovator and madmen was simply the level of success. Crew be damned! Captain Chang was here to make history! They will write sagas about him, songs, stories… He stood from his chair and shouted to the void… “You will not keep me down, You cannot penetrate this ship!”

He then set his course to the nearest warp gate. His ship, slow an purposeful, would give him time to make a three course meal and cup of coffee before it went to warp. But anywhere worth going was worth getting there in due time. You can’t rush fate.

with the direction that CCP seems to have rushed in regards to Empire Space, and continues to rush towards; we'll soon see a completely safe hisec area...and capsuleers who fit ships like this will never even be given the chance to learn from their mistakes...mark my words, no more interaction in hisec = dumbed down population = boring ass gameplay = game slowly dying as other MMOs with limited/repetetive content and interaction have done. Sure, they may be able to survive a while on the nullsec alliance players and their alts...but 'safe' hisec players will get bored and move on.

+100 Internets though to the 'Battle Onion' post; truly inspirational

Congrats OP, I've never seem somebody successfully fit shield extenders, armor plates, rail guns, a beam laser, and howitzers on a single ship before.

That has to be one of the most epic fail fits I've ever seen.
