Its pretty simple. *You all can say what you want the fact is the same*

Whats the point in these seperate races when there are really no differences.

We can fly any ship and do any job and skill.
i thought EvE was about diversity and uniqueness in races and job application. What a farce.

Might as well just nerf all the races and make them one.

Avatar aesthetics and about 12hr or so head start in training. In the old times races and the society selections made a big difference. But too many complaints that they got "balanced " into irrelevance.

Do keep this in mind when vociferously calling for nerfs in the name of balance. We might just end up with ships only differentiated by aesthetics too.

EVE's about the diversity of the sandbox and each player's part in it. The heck are you smoking? Race never had, or never should have anything to do with it (regarding what EVE should be, I realize it used to be that the races started off quite differently).

Yeah, I can see how this wouldn't a problem for some people - you're implementing a change that doesn't affect some players whilst completely sucks for anyone outside of that group. Looking like a pretty significant net loss to me, for the sake of letting some people feel like beautiful unique snowflakes.

Races give us flavor and aesthetics. I think this enough. You don't need to be an RPer or anything like that to appreciate that.

Post below me has a good point too. Even if you totally re-arrange starting skills like it used to be, it's still a flavor changed that can be mitigated by training. My post was more directed any other consideration to change the races.

It's a sandbox, you have the choice to be universal or unique. I've chosen to limit myself to Gallente ships, just because I can. I want to embrace the strenghts and overcome the weaknesses, and oh yes I think they are the sexiest ships in EVE

It's cool that those who want to fly everything have the choice- it's distant future and we are demigods, why couldn't you fly all ships designed by humans?



Without balance, we would only see FOTM ships in space, while the rest unsubbed. Balancing allows different ships to be competitive and keeps the space scenery interesting and varied.

I chose Caldari because I like their ideals. I like their artwork, the industrial asymmetric design philosophy, their style of dress and their genetic traits.

Racial Attributes in the past made choosing a character more stats then style. I choose my character to represent who I want to be and how I want to represent myself in the game.

On top of that the idea of making differences in the races is just silly. In an age where genetic modification and complete plastic surgery is most likely as simple as going to a tattoo artist today, I see no reason a character should not be whoever they want to be.

This isn't Orcs and Humans. You are a very rich and powerful individual that Governments and Corporations want to court you because you are worth 100 other non Capsuleer Ships. Profit and results talk more then racial ideologies.

Yes Race in this game only effects aesthetics, yes you are not limited to certain roles by race and yes you are judged solely by your capabilities and your character.

Sounds like a good thing to me.

I have two accounts.

Acct 1
Main: <------me
Alt 1: Amarrian
Alt 2: Caldari

Acct 2
Main: Gallente

Notice that both main characters are Gallente. I chose that race simply because of the fundamental principles of civil and economic liberties that they represent and stand for. The alts are just there for one purpose: to serve as scouts hunting down bot users.

I picked minmatar for fluff reasons. I only fly minmatar ships because I only really LIKE minmatar ships, and have sunk all my support skills into them.

And why is that?
