Navy issue rookie ships? (yes I'm serious)

Ok, I've never posted on here before(from fear of the ridicule and insults that are typical with these forumsLol) but I had to post for this. The new rookie ships are AWESOME!. Like, really really awesome. I honestly think they are the best looking ships ingame right now by far. The Impairor especially is sexy as hell.

Now, the only problem is that the rookie ships are entirely pointless. They are completely awful, and even for new players, replaced within an hour of play with a "proper" frigate. This wasn't a problem before as the frigate was usually an upgrade visually from the rookie ship, but now we have to downgrade to a far uglier ship.

So I propose, not only for newbies, but also for dedicated players like myself , Navy Issue Rookie Ships. Finally we could actually use these new Impairors/Ibis' as more than cheap shuttles(again, pointless, actual shuttles are dirt cheap) I would honestly trade my BS for an Impairor that I could use to run missions/PvP. Am I the only one who would love to use these ships for proper content?

As far as the specs of the ships go, I'd leave that to more experienced players. I'm sure room can be found for a few extra all rounder frigates in the lineup. Hell, I'd even settle for them having the exact same stats/specs as an existing frig, and just being an alternate skin.

Surely such lovely ships deserve better, especially when CCP have put so much effort into updating them.

I'd maybe use one to drag blueprints around at speed, or to move jump clones to remote systems.

Navy issue battlecruisers first ! (Brutix me wants)

-well after that all races have decent Navy Cruisers and not only Navy Omens or Stabbers because they're best overall.

And also once we have Navy Logistics ships !!

C'mon CCP what the heck are those Navy Exequror Scinthe Osprey "mini-guardian-can't-remember-the-name ??
Those are just used with lol fits for snowflake encounters that represent 1/100000000000000000² of the game possibilities.
Give us small cruisers with huge amounts of EHP and big drone bay/cargo, make them slow, give them logistic bonus and be overall 25% less effective than T2 ships with same skills.

Why Vexor Navy issue instead of Thorax Navy issue?? -seriously !

C'mon CCP you can do it please.

Those new rookie ships are sooooo tastey. It's unfortunate like Arlen says, there is little to no use for them. Hear that Devs, we want starter navy ships!

Well i personally saw these changes as : " Finally some love to all our ( smart ) cyno alts!!!! "

Cause seriously i agree with you, rookie ships tend to be obsolete during the first hours of eve....but later, much later, you end up flying a carrier...and then realize you need a personal alt for cyno...and then you realize that everyone will shoot your cyno frig just for laughs...and thats when you start to use the free rookie ships again...and now, undock the noob ship, light the cyno, jump in the carrier, and logoff the alt will take 2 or 3 more seconds to appreciate their new designs!

Sounds like a good idea, but personally I'd like these navy rookie ships to be only a little more effective than a t1 frig. Sorta like a slow inty without the tackle bonus.

Reason being is that then you could price these at like 1-3mil, letting new players experience navy shinies early, and gives older players something to fly for a laugh

There should be a rather awesome pic here

Before I can support any more additions to the BC class, a class re-balance is needed first. For example Field Command Ships should not have fewer total slots and raw hp than tier 2 tech 1 BCs.

Also, I don't think a navy brutix is really going to have any place in eve. We already have tier 2s that generally have 2 more slots than tier1s. Following standard navy doctrine the Navy Brutix would get +1 low, maybe +25m3 drone bay (not bandwidth), and a bit more hp and grid. This would result in a ship that can active tank like a myrm and do maybee 700ish dps if you opt for a 5 slot tank with 1 mag stab over a 6 slot tank setup.

I really like Copine's idea of having them as 'starter' navy ships. They would also have a nice place in RedvsBlue.

Well atleast our capital ship flying overlords can enjoy these new shipsLol Seems kinda backwards that only people with months(years? I dunno, no interest in Caps) have a genuine use for the rookie ships. I think having them as a stepping stone between a T1 and proper Navy frig sounds like a good idea. I for one would be excited about such a thing. My alt is in RvB, and he flies T1 frigs atm. I want him to fly something better, but can't quite justify the cost of a Navy frig yet. A super battle Ibis would be just the thing.

The alternative I can think of is to make the rookie ships into proper T1 frigs, made by players and bought for isk etc. Then have special "Rookie" versions of them that are the same as they are now. So say the Impairor would be a middle ground between a Punisher and an Executioner. But if you dock without a ship, you get a Reconditioned Impairor or something. Star Wars Galaxies had something like this. As an Imperial Pilot, your first ship was a reconditioned Tie Fighter. Old damaged ones repaired and with toned down systems for new pilots to get used to flying them. Your next "proper" ship was a standard Tie fighter, which was essentially better in every way.

Anyway, I'm glad to see I'm not alone in my love for the new rookie ships. I still have a few lying around with PvP fits(if you can call them that) but I'd love to go kill myself some Rifters in my Impairors/Ibis' and actually have a chance of achieving more than being a slight inconvenience to said Rifter.

Every line should have a navy ship:
Navy Velator
Navy Catalyst
Navy Brutix

(Navy Moros, Navy Thanatos, Navy Nyx, and Navy Erebus!)

I like the idea of being able to get a fairly cheap BPC from the LP stores (maybe 500LP and 500k for 1 run). Make each Navy rookie on par with the current top tier frigates. (ie Navi Issue Reaper = Rifter)

Caldari Navy Ibis is already in-game, you get to see a few during the Caldari epic arc.

I'd rather see a navy issue battlecruiser, like a Myrmidon Navy Issue.

There is no Navy issue, but there is the Astarte, which is a Tech 2 Brutix. Hopefully getting some love along with all the other stuff getting balanced to become tierless.

Callic, I like your idea about getting BPCs from the LP store for cheap. Would make them reasonably affordable for newer players, and be a great alternative if they were similar power level to the Punisher/Merlin/Rifter/Tristan.

As for the Navy Ibis being in the Caldari arc, I didn't know that. Might have to run it at some point to see em. Surely if they are in the game, we should be able to fly them
