Well, skimming through the posts, I see all has been said...

Last week I was happily playing with 3 clients on my: MacBook 13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008, Procesador 2,4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memoria 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB, Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50). Got some vacations and yesterday after updating my first client, and running just one client (windowed as always), I have been sucked to this freeze party!!

It's not multi-client related, as tried with one, two, three... and they all will freeze randomly without disconnecting... even the game audio continues to play... I have seen my own disconnects of the frozen client from a 'live' (but just waiting to froze) when I force quit the frozen client... (It appears to be alive and connected all the time, but not responding to .... well... ANYTHING but Force Quit!!

I'm installing a new patch as I write this hopping the Mac freeze party is over!... I hope EVE client is not jealous about me opening WoW client while EVE is frozen as a very good friend of mine sent me a Scroll of Resurrection on WoW... I though I won't even consider going back to WoW... (I really find it ridiculous in this EVE time! lol) but meanwhile the Mac EVE client is fixed, I'm considering my friend request of going back to WoW.... May be my 3 EVE accounts will turn on One WoW account just because of this...

(full disclosure: I really hope I'm not forced to play WoW just because WoW client doesn't freeze and EVE Client is freezing more that Arthas, The Licht King on the WoW cinematic!... help me CCP!!! Cry )

Update: This patch appears to stop the freezes, but I'm suspecting the patch was an unpatch... as portraits problems are back!!

Froze 3 times last night. 2 of them i was just cloaked in space and not touching the computer, just watching local.

The third time was after I lit a cyno. Cyno was still up and people could still jump to me, I was in game, but the client was 100% unresponsive. No crash log, no entry in console nothing. It is still acting like someone just hit a "Pause" button on the graphics card and everything else still runs fine.

I
Interestingly another user suggested that renaming or deleting your EVE Online folder from:

~/Library/Application Data/

Alleviated the problem. This action will remove all your settings, cache and defaults. Did any of you attempt this and did it alleviate the issue?

Do you mean

~Users/User/Library/Application Support/

I have no

~/Library/Application Data/ folder anywhere , and ~/Library/Application Support/ has no Eve folder

I'm open to this suggestion, If you bring a laptop to fanfest and can show this to me (and dont mind me doing some debugging on it) I will try and get this resolved.

Clearing the cache only works for a little while, the fundemental problem is still there.

You're right, sorry for that. When I initially read the post I read "icons" instead of "portraits"... Go figure...

That is the good old error they can't find how to fix. At least for me, that is the same one that pops up at the last lines.

I will be at FanFest, and I have had this issue hit me a few times. I would be happy to let you poke around if we can get it to repeat.

For me, it only happens when I run multiple clients in windowed mode for a while. One of the clients will freeze, the other continues to work fine.

I run windowed mode as well and I have noticed that it happens when I hide the window for a while and then open it up again. The reason I hide the window is that it doesn't seem to render in hidden mode and won't eat up CPU cycles. Maybe it has something to do with re-initialization of the renderer?

Good luck then! Right after DT I get freezes on my imac within 5-120 seconds after logging in.

Wow, well I am truly, truly disappointed with CCP ... not that hasn't been the case in the last couple years, but really truly disappointed now. My Mac client runs for about 30 seconds and then crashes. CCP you really are ******** - pre Crucible 1.5 would maybe crash after a few hours of playing. Now post Crucible 1.5, the game is completely unplayable on the Mac.

Konflikt: Rather than asking a bunch of questions, just getting a friggin' Mac, load the program on, and run it on a regular network to see the problems (not "your" network at CCP - a regular iNet connection). It is not hard. There are enough people posting in this thread about lock-ups since 1.5, use a little detective work to figure it. It's called CUSTOMER SUPPORT, DEBUGGING, and QUALITY ASSURANCE. Please, please, please QA your patches on regular machines that we as the consumer use rather than your "test bed" servers.

Clearing cache - nada
Renaming folder - nada
Window mode - nada
Full screen mode - nada
Turning graphics all the way down - nada
Running Eve all by itself - nada
Reading Eve Forums for help - nada

When Eve locks up, does it anytime whether switching screens, sitting in station, typing in chat, or warping to a gate - does it randomly with no routine consistency. I have some inclination it has to do with the graphics call out, because a couple times after hard-booting, the Finder screen is "fuzzy" when the computer comes back up. And yes, I have to HARD-BOOT the Mac every time, can't even switch back from full screen to Quit Eve.

OSX 10.7.3 Lion fully updated
Intel 2.2 Ghz Intel Core i7
4GB 1333MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB

I did not change anything on my machine per-Cruicible 1.5 ... what did you change?!? Please surprise me and have the client patching tomorrow to fix this issue.

I guess I'll put system info in as well:

Macbook Air
13-inch, Late 2010
Processor 1.86 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50b)

Eve graphics are all at low or disabled and i'm only ever running one client.

IT mostly locks up during PI, but also when it's just sitting there. It happens randomly where the client basically just turns into a screenshot you cant interact with. Eve needs to be force closed.

Clearing all settings and cache made no difference. The troubles started an undetermined time after the initial crucible release. Incarna ran as smooth as a babys bottom.

I've got the same problem you guys all have on an iMac 27" with 16GB RAM
I have 4 paid accounts and it happens just about as frequently whether I use 1, 2, 3 or 4 at a time (machine has always been able to run 4 at a time, till Crucible).

I started by filing petitions.
After first reply suggesting to not only clear cache (because that was the first thing I did), but to actually remove the settings folder, I wrote:

Quote:

Hello

I tried with your suggestion: I renamed the whole folder and started my clients again.
After being idle for 5 minutes first client has already frozen.

Btw, this happens more often when I have more clients open, but it still happens if I only have one: I go afk for 15 minutes and when I'm back my client is frozen.

Best regards,
The Feb

This is the reply:
Quote:

Hi GM Arcade here,

Unfortunately if you continue to suffer crashes after you have cleared your preferences folder then I can only suggest that you reduce the number of clients you run simultaneously. I appreciate that this is not the ideal solution but running multiple client on your system, even with 16GB of RAM, would strain the systems resources.

Best regards,
GM Arcade

Then I tried playing again and I lost a ship because of a freeze: it was just a drake, but it could have been a Jump Freighter, so I filed a petition:
Quote:

I lost a drake last night because of one of the client freezes I have already reported as my other account ------ (character The Feb).
Here is the kill mail:
...

and this is the reply I got:

Quote:

Hi,

We are sorry to hear about your ship loss. Unfortunately we are unable to reimburse the ship as our server-side logs do not indicate that a bug/error within the game or a server related problem was the reason for your loss. This does not mean that we doubt your description of events in any way but I'm afraid it keeps our hands tied in regards to reimbursement.

Our reimbursement policies are very strict and we can only reimburse if we are able to verify that a bug or server error caused the loss. We hope that you understand our position and that you will recover swiftly from the loss.

Sincerely,
GM Syndemic

I then filed two bug reports the response to which was that the Bug Hunters are already aware of this issue... what will that mean? Are they aware and working at it? Are they just aware and don't care about it? How will I know if and when I can go on playing?

Now, I'm not sure whether I'm more disappointed or amazed: 2 petitions with answers stating clearly they don't even read what I wrote, 2 bug reports telling me just "mkay, we know"... and? I'm paying 4 accounts I can't play with unless I buy a PC???

Is that serious???

I own a small software house myself: if I treated my customers the way CCP seem to do I would have no more customers, that's all I know.

The Feb: Welcome to CCP's "______________". (insert word here either starting with an I or R or anything you like - just don't want to put in a word myself as that is a bannable offense Big smile.

The logs show nothing. Of course the logs show nothing because the Mac Client is fubbered right now. You'd think after all this they would at least believe you Shocked and ffs its only a Drake.

Also CCP, Konflickt dev: Sill waiting for a fix ...

Oh wait they are too busy with Fanfest ...

They truly are lucky that they still have paying customers, but you are right The Feb, keeping this up and that will dwindle away also.

At least I tweaked it enough (turned off bit torrent, quit not needed programs, put Eve in Windows mode, turned down the graphics) that if I don't close or switch screens from Eve, it lasts for about 20 - 30 minutes rather than 5 minutes.

This. Pay attention CCP, us Mac people were working fine until Crucible (at least Crucible 1.5). Pay attention, go back and look through the code ... oh no ! Not Code Walk-through! Well FFS if that's what it takes to fix it, then go through the code line by line. Sheesh.

I totally agree with you, Tazmikelia.

And I also notice that CCP posts in this 10 pages' thread are a handful: I hope it's because they're working at fixing this 3-month old issue and not just ignoring the Mac customers.
