How is this looking for about a week worth of training skills? I have not really focused on combat skills so It could probably be better if I trained more. Thoughts on the build? Average for a firetail, worse? Just guns/missiles. Not a solo PVP setup. Passive(ish) shield tanking.

Thanks for the info.

Thoughts currently. Your DPS is too low and your Shield could use a little work. You have an Invuln which leaves you at a danger for neuts.

You said this is not for solo PvP. Is it for PvE or any kind of PvP.

TBH if you want the best advice you can get I would suggest letting us see the full list of modules.

Pr0 Tip: Their is a program called EFT or EVE Fitting Tool. You can just pull it up on a search engine. You can input your EVE Online API Key also can be gotten from a search engine into EFT so it uses your current skill level. EFT lets you make fits showing you both tank and DPS. This allows you to see what a ship can do without buying it or the mods. This allows you to make experimental fits for free.

The reason I bring up EFT is that in the options you can copy a fit and paste it here easily without having to write it out. People can then import that fit to check under the hood and try to improve it.

Anyway showing us the full fit and giving us more information on your Firetails planned role can only help you.

It depends on your fit more than anything. Amazing skills won't save a crap fit and crappy skills can do well with a good fit.

Those numbers look a bit low, but it's hard to be sure without seeing the fit and knowing what it's supposed to be used for.

The DPS is low but for the price the Firetail is a nice little frig for solo.

Thanks for the program link! Here is the extract from using it. As for the use, it is basically running the Sisters of Eve missions right now. I finished the new player missions and decided to upgrade. From the comments, it looks like I need to rework things. Thank you everyone for the info!

EDIT
With Minmatar should I give up trying to tank shields and just focus on Armor? Need to pick a direction with skills soon and really want to fly Minmatar for now, even though I can fly Gallente frigates too.

What exactly are you planning on doing with it? That looks like it's probably a PvE fit, in which case you should tank for the type of damage you expect to be taking, rather than omni-tanking. And CCC rigs are generally better than Semiconductor Memory Cell ones in most applications, since the CCC rigs help you recharge faster while the SMCs mostly just give you a bit more time before you run out.

Here's some tweaks to that fitt that I tossed together that should d a bit better for you. I assumed you were in Angel space (Minmatar space) and tanked against Exp more, since that's the damage type they do. I also changed the ammo to explosive dealing ammo, since that's what Angels are weak to. If you're in a different area, simply change the ammo and the shield resist amp to whatever pirates you're fighting at the time (if you feel confident in your tank, then you could trade one of the shield extender rigs for a Projectile Collision Accelerator one for more DPS).

Also, to determine your tank against different rats in EFT, you can switch to different damage profiles and see what your tank/EHP is against the type of damage that those rats do on average. You change it by right clicking in the Defense box to change to any pre-set damage type profile.

To get the damage profiles you can either enter them by hand or just paste this block of text at the end of your config.ini file in the EFT directory:

Thanks for the info. Its only for PVE and yes, Angels.

I was out doing solo incursion stuff, which I guess doing so was a mistake. Had a group of about five of them I tried to take on in a T1 Rifter that was set up just like this Firetail. Did not do so well. I was only able to take out one, and another down to about 20% hull before I was stopped in my tracks with a web and blown to pieces. I know they are harder then mission rats, but I figured I could do better then that! Its a messed up build anyway. I should pick range with the speed. If I could figure out a way to squeeze on some howitzers it might have worked out a little better. It just seems boring though to click on keep range and then let the ship do the flying. I like to bring up the tactical display, fly manually and actually work for my kills. It doesn't always work out but its a lot more fun then just circling using keep distance and orbit. I wish I could actually get into the ship and fly it like the X (offline game) series.

I don't know. Going in too many different directions at once, at least I feel that way right now. I will give your suggestions a shot, thank you for the info and taking the time to look things over.

TBH, a low skilled char will have issues with the Scout Incursion sites. I managed to do them in a DED/T2 fit faction frigate (Slicer with DED tank and T2 guns) with good skills, but I still hit 50% or so hull the first time I tried it. A low-skilled char with named gear is going to have issues with it. Stick to other stuff for a bit, Scout incursions aren't worth the effort they take anyways.

Ya, I decided to read ta guide on incursions (probably the only one I hadn't read) and realized the one I was doing was rated for something like 4-8 players. Guess I now know why I was blown to bits. Live and learn.
