I would like to be able to retract the turrets (like they are during warp) on my ship when not in use and have them pop out only when I target something.

Anybody know of a setting i can change to achieve this?

unfortunatly not. they wanted to do this, but with the near instant lock frigs, it caused issues with it.

It would be an interesting idea but I can imagine a lot of butthurt being caused by people forgetting to pop out their turrets in the middle of combat.

I think they should automatically retract and pop out though. Perferably playing the pop out animation the second you start locking onto something.

Also, given that frigate modules are smaller, wouldn't it be logical that they take f-all time to pop out?

I think this would make for an interesting combat tactic for high-sec ganking. Retract your turrets to say "Hey man, we cool, we cool!"

I'd like an option to just never extend them unless firing.

Without this option, it's sometimes easy to tell at a glance if someone has some offline turrets, whereas they have no ability to conceal this information.

They wanted to do this, but ships can lock and fire before the animation finishes playing.

Sure...but if you need to fire you have to press the same button before you can do so to deploy your guns which also means waiting for the deployment time before you can fire.

With that condition I support it!

If that happened, I (and likely many other people) would never retract my turrets. I'm zoomed out 10-60km most of the time anyways, I never know if they're out or not to begin with.

We don't need visual fluff to start interfering with gameplay. Some people don't even have turret models enabled.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

The time it takes for a turret takes to fully deploy could be something that could give you or your opponent the edge in battle. But most small turrets take no time to deploy really. So insta lock frigs wouldn't be that put out.

Then they dont have to worry about it do they?
