Is this some kind of a joke? There are weird people (like me) that spent billions to acquire those items.

The mines are likely to be reinstated; the drones I don't have any plans to reinstate right now as there doesn't seem to be any clear sign that they were being intentionally distributed, and names like "Improved UNUSED" make me wary. I am of course open to further discussion on this issue, but we had a lot of types caught in the sweep that very definitely *shouldn't* have been in player hands, and we're generally erring on the side of caution in this regard.

Perhaps CCP should have given us a fair warning prior to removing those items? There are many players who have spent billions (equivalent to hours of gameplay) or burned PLEXs (oh guess what, stupid me again!!!), to obtain those items.

There was absolutely no gain for CCP or ANYONE for deleting those items.

Anyone that popped convoys back then will be able to tell you those mining drones dropped by the thousands, along with Harvester Drones (why not delete those too while at it?)

The hellhounds were unintentional drop in missions but CCP fixed them and stated they will not delete them:

Ok, I've put the Hellhounds and the Elites on the "to recover" list.

And the UNUSED? I spent 3 billions to acquire 2 x UNUSED ones. Or at least, could you replace those with HELLHOUNDS or something equivalent in value or rarity? I am sorry, but I generate my ISK via burning actual cash. This kind of random deleting discourages folks like me from ever purchasing PLEXs.

Ok, great.

Now, the improved UNUSED drones were never named like that. Someone else that thought they were not used renamed them to that years ago. They dropped at the same time as the Elites. You should just remove the "UNUSED" part and restore them. Besides, they're worse than the elites anyway, but just as rare.

CCP forgetting that people don't just PvP and PvE in eve, some just collect weird crap\history about the game other just cruise about visiting systems etc, eve's a sandbox after all.

Removing historical or weird crap, seems a little odd and kinda pointless (same goes for the renaming in my mind but you've already started with that).

If you want an item removed from the game for whatever reason, nerf it down to 0 or just remove the drop.
I'd also think you had a way of querying how many of x item is currently in circulation and if it's still out there, leave it be.

Also,

I didnt have any of the said stuff (as far as I remember), but just deleting items is a No-Go as there are collectors, like The Antiquarian, who just enjoy to look at this useless rubbish in their hangar. For normal people and DEVs that might sound stupid, but THIS IS THE SANDBOX. Dont break the game for people, just because you dont care for their way enjoying it.

Yay 10 years! :D

On a side note:

DEL u'Mimir Blueprint'

You absolutely sure the ships were all built, CCP?

I have Vangel and Malice bpcs which I will probably never build from. Should I be afraid?

(EDIT: yes I know the mimir bp will be restored, that's not the point. The point is, I don't want to have to be afraid of losing rare items because of some guy on a cleanup spree)

Yeah...there was already a thread about this with a Dev post that would have saved a lot of time if people even bothered to look at the front page of the forums and read.

Just saying...

It was an "ACCIDENT" and they are going to work on fixing it.

Ok, this I find really sad....

People playing your game the way that it was intended, and you randomly remove collectable items from their hangers, deciding they aren't needed? And you can't be bothered to even inform those players? Are you seriously still that out of touch with your fanbase?

And then you post on the forums with the attitude:

"We'll I didn't really think it was that important, but if your gonna whine about it....I'll put them back in"

Are you determined to drive off all the Bittervets before Fanfest? So you don't have to talk to them? Shocked

I think some of these complaints are valid to a point.

I mean yeah these items arent supposed to exist.

but they did.

Maybe make the jovians steal them all and leave a thank you note for not letting it fall into the wrong hands.

but overall the clean up should have done a script run to see how many of those items existed on the server before deleting any of them.

Wrong.

You've just demonstrated why deleting items is a bad idea though.

With all the people leaving (both CCP and EVE), knowledge is lost. Things like how items came into the game, etc.

I can assure you that all of those drones and mines are/were supposed to exist. I'm uncertain about the capital implant, but I'm sure I did not have the only one of those.

I think the question here is, WHY were collectibles deleted?

Were they somehow a potential balance problem? Were people USING these things in ways they should have been able to? If that's the case...render them useless. Make them true collectibles that have no functional value at all.

What other excuse is there? Database clutter? Really? A few hundred thousand items in a game where individual players own more than that?
