HISEC Agression Mechanic Question

Momma always told me to ask "them that know" so here goes...

Pal of mine is in a .6 HISEC system mining (I know, I know...he likes it) and has drones out for the occasional rat. One of the denizens of this forum is nearby cloaked. Once the rats show, "Bad Guy" uncloaks and targets my pal. My pal has Auto-target on (I know, I know...) so he now is targeting "Bad Guy's" Daredevil by mistake. Drones aggress the Daredevil, Daredevil agresses my pal and my pal goes boom.

I haven't been in HISEC for almost a year so I am a bit confused by this story (I'm a Wormholer you see). Why didn't CONCORD blow my pal sky high when his drones hit the "innocent" Daredevil? I'm certain that there is something that I am not understanding or remembering. 'Lil help?

The daredevil probably flipped a can. It's also possible that he was low enough sec status that he was attackable.

Your friend is dumb.

I should have mentioned that there was no can. My bad. That's one of the reasons that I am so confused by this.

In that case he was almost certainly -10 or similar.

Or he flipped a wreck for a previous rat your buddy had killed.

Though DD with a cloak? Ew.

Marvelous idea!
Please fly around highsec in a -10 Daredevil letting miners attack you.
Tell me how it goes.

I'm gonna go with those saying he probably stole from a wreck. There is almost certainly something simple your friend failed to notice. And he is dumb.

Post with your monkey.

Maybe your friend shouldn't be out mining whilst at war?

why do 0.0 pilots who can never fight on their own always say that.

Anyway, yeah, drones out, flip wreck, drones aggres. Indy goes boom, and sometimes they come back in the frigate/cruiser/bc/bs to exact revenge for his popped indy.

Totally missed the part about a cloak. Agreed. Gross.

And yeah, I revise my earlier statement. It was totally a flipped wreck.

Drones don't just aggress on their own.
This is why auto-targeting is a no go. So he wanted to kill the rat and instead attacked the (blinky) DD with drones, turning himself into the victim.

only way it happened is your guy agressed first if he was not at war. if wasnt at war even if dd stole from wreck drones wont attack him unless dd agressed the mining barge but if he did that not being at war concord would have poped him.

He stole something from a rat wreck, cloaked up, and waited for the next wave. Then your friend auto targeted him back and engaged as he saw rats on the overview

If your friend wrongfully attacked a daredevil in 0.6 he would go GCC, assuming he ignored the warnings.

There are then 2 possible explanations:

1) Daredevil found a wreck and was red to him
2) Daredevil pilot laughs that the retriever has gone GCC, and blows up the Retriever. It could then be a case of
a) the Retriever died before CONCORD arrived (possible)
b) your buddy had poor situational awareness and didn't even notice CONCORD assisting the Daredevil

It sounds like the DD pilot was doing his part as a good citizen and shooting criminals in highsec.
