Weird stutter since last patch pre 1.5 with multiple instances of eve

hey there

I have problems with the game becomes extremely choppy (4 fps) at random. pre 1.5 i could just minimize and maximize one of the instances and it would run properly again. but now i just had to restart my main session for the first time because that "trick" wouldn't work anymore. when i minimize one window the other one works normaly again but as soon as i maximize the window the problem comes back. even docked in a station!

prior to this problem i noticed that when i got into warp/jumped a gate/docked a station i had a huge short stutter on both instances of eve. i don't know when that exactly started but it's around the same time the extreme stuttering began. it's about since 4-5 days i guess. it only occurs when i play eve for longer than an hour or so.

any ideas what that could be? i ran eve for half a year without any problems prior to this :/

edit: now i started the other instance again and immediatly it began to stutter again even without login in. whole windows is choppy even the music in winamp... wtf is this?

This is EXACTLY what I have been having since yesterdays patch on my Desktop rig with SLI 560TI's and the 2nd to the latest Nvidia drivers (not the newest ones released what yesterday along with the Win 8 ones).

What are you running for Graphics Card (and Drivers) CPU, etc?

i have sli with 460s... i5 760@4ghz. graphic cards driver are a bit older (like 1 month may be... never touch a running system) because there were no optimisations for the games i played.

Hmmmmm.. Curious can you try with SLI off and see if it comes back? Are you running the latest driver (or 2nd to latest) from nvidias site? I updated my drivers I believe 2 days before the patch and didn't have issues till last night so I believe I can rule them out, but still...

i deactivated sli for now and restarted the system. will play for an hour or two and report back then or when the stuttering returns.

first edit: i still have the weird stutters when warping/docking/jumping gates... let's see if the big stutters return

aaaaaaaaand they returned...

i noticed it's only when my miner instance on my second monitor jumps/docks etc it will stutter and the heavy stuttering began after docking to a station... and it's not only eve. the whole computer is choppy. mouse jumps when moving, music is distorted and a video i watched stuttered also like hell. as soon as i minimize or close both eve it's ok again...

funny thing is cpu usage is like 30% or so...

Exact same thing with the exact same timing. (miner alt undock/docking) so it's not Nvidia SLI based... And today's update didn't fix it. Phooie.

I'm stumped for the moment until I get home to tinker with it. Also the way I fixed it temporarily was Ctrl+Alt+Del then just esc back. :/

yeah, your method was the same as minimizing/maximizing i think. but that sadly won't work after the update today too i guess :/

could still be a nvidia issue though.

i will not play my miner for now as the problem is only with 2 instances.

Drivers. What ones are you using? (need to know) it may be something mixed in with their latest changes so lets get some numbers shall we?

I recently upgraded to the 295.73 WHQL's up from the 295.51 Betas. I have not yet tried the 296.10's.

Soo it is a 1.5.X issue now. Dare I say it is something they did in fixing the ATI seizure flashes?? Shocked

I don't know if this is related, but not only am I getting all the stuttering on a single GPU and single client, I'm also getting weird artfacting shapes sometimes in my Captain's Quarters and my character's hair is sometimes "shaved down" (looks like the physics part is all cut off).

Running NVIDIA 296.10 WHQL Win7 x64.

Major graphical glitches/performance problems with this patch as others are describing. :(

Ha had all the same stuff, even the Hair last night after a period of time. Something got botched in 1.5 for us NVIDIA users lol. (Heck even last night, the CQ didn't fully load or something and the camera fell through the station slowly, down into oblivion lol. )

Wonder if it is a Physx issue... Any Devs able to chime in if they updated physx within the game in 1.5? I may be able to tinker with a workaround when I get home if it is that. :/

Any of you wanna try disabling hardware physx for a test run? Maybe also disable hair and such (that checkbox) ingame.

im having a similar issue where my GPU usage shoots upto 90+ % when using 2 clients for more then an hour. IT uses the normal 27/33 % for a while then slowly rises to 91.. this started after 1.5

Well turning off Physically Simulated Cloth and Hair in the Options settings seems to have fixed the Hair and glitching in the CQ. Will see if that affects anything else as I go about it tonight.

So they somehow botch Physx. Any reason they cant use the latest Nvidia Physx files that are 10X more stable then many of the past versions? (Im guessing they have to get certified and tested, but being able ot swap the files manually to test would be handy.)

Will test and post stuff up tonight. So far last night I played for about an hr problem free without the Physically Simulated Cloth and Hair option.

The option instantly swapped between flat hair/graphic glitches - normal stiff hair but hair nonetheles and no glitches. Didn't have any studders but was also using only 1 client which did seem to take longer for the glitch to occure the night before.

Still a step in the right direction.
