Best bet is that its a Supercap builder hedging against the drone nerf.

He is probably a resident of the Drone Regions and has stockpiles of highends from the local market, but cant accumulate enough Trit in that way.

Moreover we are "only" talking about a volume that equals 1.2 days of trit trading or 180b isk. Thats not "all the trit in the game"

All you really need is a little bit of data from Chaos test server that points towards "drone poo is going away, to be replaced by bounties" and all hell breaks loose on the mineral market.

Granted, it mostly happened on highends, but I'm fairly sure that this is related.

(bunch of mining bots getting banned might also play a part)

Bit more of this and it may soon be worth it to mine Veldspar. Shocked

That much trit would fill over 300 freighters. I did not see orders for the other minerals needed to make guns for compression...

Sorry to inform you, but the moon is already stuffed with Tech, so the price of tritanium will have to be redirected to Mars.
