CCP is insulting its customers with this latest release

I agree, it can be infuriating to deal with for sure. But to create a post on the forums about it isn't going to do anything about it. It's better to keep a level head, look at the issues and errors it gives you and see if CCP has already created a fix for it (in my case, it was running the repair.exe 12 times - tedious but it fixed it).

CCP does a great job with the game, and I for one want to thank them for everything they've done to better the game - and belittle them for everything they've done to destroy the game(in my opinion - such as WiS)... But I don't do it openly in a forum, because it's not constructive - and does nothing to further my cause for the future enjoyment of eve.

Plenty of people have had issues with this patch, there is no denying that... So in that respect I do agree that there should have been more testing either internally on every possible computer configuration (that'd be a metric ****-ton of computers).. or some other way of testing it (was it ever on the test server? I don't know as I don't use the test server)... But there are more intelligent ways about venting about the issues you're having with the patch -- plus the creation of new threads per person who experiences the same issue only further perpetuates the issue because who wants to read 10,000 posts that pretty much say 'it doesnt work, you suck CCP'

Instead, perhaps a solution to this issue would be a smart-forum that CCP could implement... Instead of having everything in the general discussion board of the forums -- perhaps add-in a "Latest Patch Discussion" that is available on patch day and perhaps only open for 12-18 hours...

Each new topic is gone through (using code - REGEX more than likely) and determines if it is a duplicate -- if it is -- it adds the new topic as a response to the previous topic. If it's not, it allows the creation of the current topic... This would cut down on the amount of threads that effectively say the same thing -- and all the information is in 1 spot for other people to read and/or ignore...

Then for the General Discussion - any topic about the latest patch is thereby permanently moved to the "Latest Patch Discussion" letting the other stuff shine through...

And this is just one idea that could possibly work to help at least alleviate the thousands of topics that CCP MUST read (despite the fact they don't want to - hell I don't read half of them because there isn't enough time in the day to deal with all the tears).. Any other good ideas?

You are right, it is not constructive.

It is just very very very frustrating experiencing the same issues that i face during my daytime job with Eve. Eve should just work.

Mr big shot IT company owner. Ring your IT department and ask them. They will probably say something like this.

Press the little windows icon in the bottom left.
In the searchbar type "System restore"
Pick the most recent restore point (hopefully you have one per month. I think thats a default windows setting)
Restore system to previous point
Re download EVE update.

See what happens.

Lol, you actually think that it is normal that the customer has to run system restore because the providing company of the software f**cks up their stuff.
And you probably also take it for granted. Big smile

Only installed on a Mac so far. Really slow going but worked fine. Minor changes in the UI are annoying.

Do not assume anything above this line was typed by me. Nerf the Truth, it's inconvenient.

While I can totally see your argument, you have to admit that when you release a piece of software it goes from being in your nice test environments where things are fairly comfortable to client machines which can be a horrible mess.

For example, it might be that there's a tool you use on all 3 machines like a driver for a blackberry or something similar that is common on all your machines and replaces a dll on your machine that the launcher calls.

And you can't test everything.

I mean, it's an entirely different kettle of fish bringing out a browser based application and a fully native program that runs complex operations on client machines.

I've not experienced any problems but, who knows, if I installed iTunes on the PC all of a sudden it might work.

You're talking about inter-program interaction there at the level you only partially have to worry about with a browser based piece of software (eg: someones .NET frawework install has been partially overwritten by a bodge someone else put in place to get THEIR software working)

So.. yeah... I don't think there's a problem with their release strategy because you can't account for everything.

So your have no idea how windows works then?

Sometimes data gets corrupted or something slight can go wrong causing problems. For all we know your computer may have had a slight failure causing the game not to work on your machine. In such a case its not CCP's fault its your pc's fault (notice i didnt say your fault) this is why microsoft put the system restore tool there. I have also just outlined what you need to do.

Just because your computer doesnt like this particular software update doesnt make it the company who produced it's fault. AS it seems to have worked on the majority of machines (including mine) then we can safely assume its either a specific problem with your computer or its hardware configuration or a problem has occured during download and install (corrupt file, misplaced directory or something menial like that) and not "CCP INSULTING ITS CUSTOMERS 20k of which are playing the game right now with few problems"

First off try my method, if that doesnt work then its obviously wont have been a problem during download, install and cofiguration of the patch. At this point I would say get in touch with ccp and tell them your system configuration and they might be able to implement a fix that could potential help other players who might be suffering the same dilema.

....I dont know why im bothering to try and help cos your clearly here to ***** and whine like a little girl whos just been told off by her daddy for eating all the cake fatty.

4 Machines, 5 Clients ... all installed/updated and run flawlessly.
Not sure where your issue(s) lie but, perhaps you should get one of your IT folk to assist you. It is well known that CEO/CTOs can barely tie their own shoes let alone maintain their own computers.

It is not working on 3 different computers. and i am clearly not really the only person having these issues.
