You guys are so dumb.

Lets say my programmers release a new version of our website that works flawlessly on a MAC with safari but does not work on a PC with windows XP and a IE8 browser.
What you guys are saying is that i should then ask all my customers to download a different browser otherwise they can not use my website.
Yes. Largely because you'd be doing your customers the most significant favour in their lives.

You really should have picked a different simile since the issue the case you describe unequivocally lies with IE.

By the way, not being a tech CEO / CTO, but rather a social science researcher, I'm having none of the issues you describe over six installations on four machines… so the whole “tone down the arrogance” theme you're trying to run with here should probably be directed somewhere else.

Once you get the splash up, go to the tools Icon, top right.

In there you will find a start up option and you can set to close when EVE launches and Only open for updates.

I clicked them both and EVE launches the same as it did pre1.5 and like you, the game is slow now. Ilogged in earlier and there were around 18K on, I moved a character 18 jumps over 4 regions and every system, the load time was 2 minutes+ for overview. After getting to the station I wanted to be in, I couldn't use the market, couldn't view my wallet, was being dropped 3 times average every 10 minutes.

I don't know what they did but it isn't "working as intended". Unles they intended to force us all to dock up and not play for a week.

This is exactly the same that i see on the only machine (out of 3) that still launches.

3 machines [XP , Vista64 and Win7 64]
no problems so far - well apart from on one machine [XP] my Samsung phone suite got updated - this may or may not of been anything to do with the launcher

Offcourse the problem lies with IE in cases like this, but 70% of our customers are using this. You are suggesting i should do away with 70% of my business out of programming arrogance?
Do you think an attitude like that reflects a professional insight?

You can still launch the game without using the launcher just run the exe for the game instead of the launcher, its just a new front for launching the game for now. Updates as far as i'm aware can still be downloaded via the old method as my launcher failed to update the game so ran exe and updated via the old method now its working.

As for the launcher not loading run the repair tool from the eve folder, some people i've spoken too had the same issue with it not launching the launcher or getting a black screen.

tl;dr:

Hi, I has business degree and can spell CEO *and* IT, but cannot cut and paste successfully. I like to argue with forums people over how inept I am at computers and I hope that it will fix my internet spaceships.

The server population seemed unusually low when i logged in 10 minutes ago. Maybe others are having troubles too?

Expect a flood of posts of computer experts complaining they can't get the game to run.P

I call you guys dumb because you actually think that it is the responsibilty of the customer to make a program work.

It has nothing to do with IT knowledge of the user, things should just work.

It is insulting to your customers to release an update that crashes more than 0,1% of your customers systems. Wheter the user is an IT professional or a plumber. It has to do with improper testing and arrogant programming.

EVE works flawlessly on my mid-range budget machine.

I would hazard a guess you are just doing it wrong.
