OK: this thing is pretty lol but you can reduce its impact on your playtime.

1. Go to the 'tool' icon and disable the launcher from working unless there is an update

2. Set it so the launcher closes after a client launches

3. Set up direct bookmarks / media keys / whatever to the eve exe rather than the launcher and use them

4. I doubt there's much to do about having to use it to patch the game but we will see in time if this improves.

Did those even before the patch was done yesterday. Big smile
I have to agree with some sentiments that its superflous. The only saving grace are the patching functions.

Is this like the time when we would dock and unwillingly end up in the CQ? That sucked.

Crucible was good. But this patch SUCKS BALLS

Launcher means I need to download 100megs 4 times to update every PC I use to play EVE, while before I just download one file. I hear you can save the patch to USB but .... you could always do that. With ease. No stupid hoops.

Launcher is like the "OEM" software you used to get with wireless cards. Did exactly what the base (windows) system did, but added a bit of unecessary bloat.

Also:

Launcher needs to be closed manually so I can open it again to dual box

Launcher needed an update at 00:10 which wiped all my settings...

Worst work CCP have done since they made 20% of the players unsubscribe...

This thing is taking longer than an expansion. how big is this patch?

Oh and thank you CCP for another fukt up "feature" nobody wanted!

Do not assume anything above this line was typed by me. Nerf the Truth, it's inconvenient.

And we can be getting CSM candidate advertising, voting, more visible notification of CCP polls, better interaction with the community, etc. from the launcher; which is a smaller, more mobile platform than trying to hack it all into the EVE Client. Maybe there is a little silver lining?

Holy crap...

That is the slowest download of a patch EVER !!

LOL... Oh wait, it isn't really patched, there is another "Client" update.

What a POS launcher.

Guess I will be trying to test the ways around this (just like the forced CQ)

I tend to agree with the person posting above me.

if we're going to have to go thru the hoops of the launcher, then let it do the client updates as well...

I haven't had to deal with it since it first popped up. Unbelievable how slowly it downloads a 150mb patch though.

That would be a terrifying weapon.

You launch it into the middle of a fleet and it instantly deploys a large tower, the shield bubble of which scatter-bumps the enemy ships in a 360 degree array of random directions out of range forcing them to regroup somewhere.

While updating the launcher/patching yesterday at work, i thought my (mobile) connection was broken (nearly broken) providerside, so slow it was. Even my "superfast-cable-connection at home needed AGES.

This is NOT an improvement, CCP.
