Low Sec Faction Warfare

Hey all,

I have a couple questions about faction warfare that I would like answered. I understand that when you join the militia you can no longer enter the opposing faction's space without being attacked by their police so these questions are not about high sec.

With that been said....

1. If I join the Minmatar militia, will Amarr gates / stations in lowsec fire upon me?

2. If I attack a member of the Amarr militia within range of a lowsec minmatar gate or station while I'm a member of the Minmatar militia - will it fire upon me?

3. Is there much activity within the faction warfare?

The reason I ask is that I've been playing out in nullsec for a couple months, learning about nullsec pvp and was thinking about transitioning to lowsec pvp (or at least place a jumpclone out there). I don't like the fact that you can't really engage around gates or stations in lowsec without getting fired upon. I understand that you can tank the gates in battlecruisers but I like flying frigates / cruisers atm.

I also don't really like the concept of mobile warp disruptors (bubbles) so lowsec appeals to me a lot more than nullsec. My corporation has taught me how to avoid these bubbles for the most part but I still don't like them. I was hoping that faction warfare pvp would open up lowsec pvp around gates/stations for me.

Are there any perks to faction warfare that I should know about...?

No. Gates and stations of the opposing faction will not shoot at you. You can even dock in the "enemy's" stations.

Nope. Think of FW as a giant war dec. If you find any of the opposing militia in any location in EVE, you can shoot them on sight.

It waxes and wanes both in terms of what timezone you fly in and over the course of months.

"Benefits" of being in FW include, but are not limited to:
1. You cannot enter the opposing faction's and its ally's space without being shot at by their respective navies (if you join the Gallente or Minmitar militia you will be shot at by the Caldari and Amarr navy in their high-sec space. The same holds true in reverse).
2. Ability to do FW missions and access to the militia LP store (which has some pretty smexy stuff).

Also... some things to know about FW...

1. Set up your overview. Make it so that "friendlies" do not show up (helps prevent friendly fire incidents and reduces clutter) and make sure that militia status supersedes outlaw/GCC status (quite a few militia members are "pirates" and attacking them will incur a large penalty on your standings with the militia).
2. Buy ships and mods in bulk and have PvP ships of ALL types (ex, shield-fit, armor-fit, DPS/gank-fit, nano-fit, etc) prefit in an easy to access station (preferably a low-sec one that many other militia members use).
3. You will lose A LOT of ships in militia. Have a steady source of income to replace stuff.
4. Do NOT give away friendly fleet locations and/or friendly ship types in Militia Chat. The enemy has many spaiz!!!
5. Learn the area well. This will help you when you are looking for stuff to kill or escape from hostiles.
6. When looking for a fleet, type "X" into militia chat and eventually you will get picked up.
6i. Alternatively, go out and roam a bit. If you stumble upon a friendly fleet, they might pick you up. If not, keep looking (and try killing some stuff while you're at it).
7. Once you join a fleet, join audio (be it the in-game EvE audio or Vent, Teamspeak, etc) and LISTEN.
7i. LISTEN SOME MORE.
7ii. ARE YOU SURE YOU'RE LISTENING????
7iii. If you cannot figure out where the fleet is by listening, ask [politely] by typing in fleet.
8. The FC (fleet commander) is GOD himself and his orders should be followed to the letter (ex. even if you're in a frigate, SHOOT THE GODDAMN "PRIMARY" that has been called). He and his scouts should be the only ones talking. Do NOT talk unless spoken to.
9. Get to know the "regulars" within your timezone. Good things will follow if you make friends with them.
10. Listen to everyone's advice... no matter how abrasive it is. Chances are, they know what they are doing and you don't.
