Anyone know of any solid, but still relatively cheap, windows hosting? Need ASP.Net 4.0 of course and MSSQL 2005 or higher.

Bandwidth would be small as only corp/alliance wide, storage space is also not a giant concern (just database).

I could just google some, but who knows what you get with random companies and I was hoping someone had some personal preferences they have used/like.

Translation - Anyone know where I can over pay to host a slow virus ridden site. I don't care if my site is down more often then it's up because no one will be using it after someone hacks it and steal all the users' passwords which are the same password they use for their eve account and their bank accounts. Actually I'm wanting to host a copy of http://wh-space.wiadvice.com/Main.aspx since the base and database install files are all provided on their sourceforge.

Contact me in game if you don't mind a player hosting for you (admittedly a security risk). I don't do hosting "professionally," but I host a modified version of that application and have extra server capacity to host the vanilla version.

I've never used shared ASP.Net hosting before as I don't trust a server I don't have root / Administrator on, but Google shows quite a few fairly priced ASP hosts. I've had good experiences with Aplus.net in the past with their dedicated servers before they became Codero, but take that with a grain of salt and do your own research.

There are no recommended windows hosts. That is, I do not recommend windows for hosting at all. But then again, all my experiences with windows hosts haven't been good, so I hardly give a fair judgement.

Unfortunately, applications which require ASP.NET 4.0 and Microsoft SQL are rather limited in choices. I host my own linux server as it is but even the latest mono only supports asp.net 2.0 and MSSQL has to be setup using at best WINE which is fuzzy and would not work well.

I appreciate the offer but I think I'll pass :) Security is a rather important thing and I'd rather not have another player hosting it, no offense.

None taken, same reason I host my own as well (aside from the modifications).

If it is just a small site for just a few people, host it your self. You can pick up a half way decent 2 year old, brand new computer for about $200-300 from wholesalers on the net. I run some stuff for extended family on computers that are 11 years old and I bought them for $75.

Not saying I recommend them, but I use GoDaddy for my .net hosting needs.

They're slow, their support responds usually within 48h but never before 12h and their interface is horrible.

However, they get the job done.

I always just use a VPS so i can do any stuff i want on it.

Atm i'm quite happy with the promotional price (9.95$ with promo code) for this VPS offer vservercenter
They offer KVM/XEN/VMWARE/HYPER-V solutions, but atm i always would go with the KVM version, since this has the advantage that u can install ANY OS of your choice and even can upload your own windows/linux iso images to there ftp, so u can mount and install them. This even allows to install normal Vista/Win7/8 on your machine as cheap windows host considering the license cost for Server 2008. I also like the KVM+VNC setup better than XEN + SSH.

The other great windows offer is this (7-15$): united hoster, im not sure if they have US offers, but i guess they may have UK. We never had real problems with the "VPS Business" and its really cheap if u compare it to other offers. This offer is really cheap considering Server 2008 is included and the Ram/HDD size.

While not a windows offer, i can recommend this fast "affordable" XEN offer: Linode
There overall VPS/traffic speed are fantastic at this price-point. They are not as cheap as other VPS offers, but there management tools and support outperforms most other XEN VPS offers by a great deal.

+1 on linode, while you have to know what your doing (unmanaged VPS). Linode is fast, friendly, with good hardware. In the year I've been with them, I've had downtime twice, for about 6 hours, and another time for 30 minutes. And that's more because I choose their Fremont location because I get the lowest ping times there.
