Logged on for first time since update. Asked if I wanted to download patch. Downloaded fine. Asked if I was ready to quit and install. Said yes. Went to "this may take a few minutes dialog" and froze. Tried to re-launch client and it said it was broken.

Tried with client copy and same exact thing happened.

How should I proceed?

Exactly the same for me. It appears to have moved the installation inside another package also call Eve Online/Resources. When you move that back to the applications directory, it asks you to patch again. Rinse and repeat.

Grim, can you please clarify more specifically. I've tried moving the tgApplyPatch.app file around and have had no success with it. Currently 10+ more hours to d/l the client .dmg. That's what I get for "cleaning" out my HD a couple weeks ago. Largely, I have not had as many problems with the mac client as I've read from others on here, so I consider myself lucky. But today I had the same problem as post #2 where the patch d/l'd fine, but it wouldn't install and now my client is broke. I knew I should have put a longer skill in the queue before bed last night.......

I'm having the same issue as #19.

13" Macbook, 2.53 GHz Core 2 Duo Nvida GeForce 9400M

Post patch my frame rate is down from 15-30 FPS to 4 FPS. Unusably slow.

Everything is just clunky slow and horrible now.

Same issue here as these two. Everything seems to respond at lot slower, graphics aren't rendering in a reasonable amount of time and my frame rate has gone down. It seems like it's drawing more memory than it needs to from the GPU.

Same here, huge FPS drop, was about 50 in space and now it's like 20-25, 15 on an empty gate… Thats in windowed mode, if I switch to fullscreen, it's even worse.

Launcher does not install. Various errors in system.log (will provide upon request, but this appears to be highly reproducible).

MacBookPro6,2 (Core i7, Nvidia GT 330M, 4GB)
OS X 10.7.3

What causes the issue: attempting to update to 1.5
Workaround: None

edit: One of my alts' skill queues just stopped. Please fix ASAP! (Or give me some SP.)

edit2: Full reinstall, got my skill queue going - only lost an hour or two. However, performance is utterly terrible. What a terrible update.

I have updated the wiki page.

What was changed?

I use the "Duplicating EVE Online.app" method. From what I can see there's a different set of references to the prefs folder (CFBundleDisplayName, CFBundleName etc) and the PrefsFolderName has been removed. I dont see anything like that on the wiki.

Changing the CF related bundle names and readding the PrefsFolderName doesnt work. Both clients still point to the same prefs.

I'm guessing this is fundamental to all 3 styles of running duplicate instances of Eve. Whether it be duplicating the client, running two via the command line or using the symbolic links all of them need separate prefs.

Please re-read the instructions carefully, and follow them step-by-step. You are trying to edit the wrong info.plist -- the one you see first is the one for the launcher. You need to dig a little deeper to find the embedded EVE Online client app and edit the info.plist that is contained inside that.

ran updater, when loading launcher, went unresponsive, forcequit, it killed client. on second client, ran updater, while loading launcher once again unresponsive, but i left it. the client just vanished like i quit it but upon reopening the launcher was there. it worked. so now i have a client.. i went in game and the graphical f u c k e r y commensed.. my ship is not visable, other ships look screwed.. go to photobucket and search for user name Antixian for screenshots. the stations have now started to appear but docked is a joke theres nothing there but a mess.. CCP i love this game.. but why do you release broken client updates do you not have people with macs in your staff that test these things before you release them? on the upside my FPS is up. downside its because the games screwed. anyone else having graphical problems? heres the photobucket account http://s1167.photobucket.com/profile/Antixian please let me know..

The first attempt to run the launcher resulted in a crash part way through the launcher's update process. With hope in my heart I ran it again and it worked. The launcher updated, the game ran, worked fine, looks fine. Tried a mission: Zor once again died, no issues.

I found the old clone maker did not work (I expected that), tossed it and got the new one. Made the clones and they all work.

Graphics performance on my desktop machine has been annihilated by the update also.

Mac Pro
OS X 10.6.8
dual 2.8 GHz quad core xeon
14 Gb RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5770

Used to get 60 FPS, now I get 5.3

Both my Macs are unplayable.

Found it.
I had the same problem, then out of curiosity I checked the main.scpt in Clonemaker, where it's (rightly) pointed:
Quote:
-- cider needs to be copied, not linked, otherwise the Finder gets confused

I replaced the MacOS/ symlink to "/Applications/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/Resources/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/MacOS" in my "/Applications/EVE\ Clone.app/Contents/Resources/EVE\ Online.app/Contents" with a copy of the relevant MacOS folder, thus copying cider into my EVE Clone sub-path.

It seems to work fine so far.

Out of curiosity, I then tried to create another Clone using Transgaming's Clonemaker, and found it produces a significantly different result, compared to the Duplicating EVE Online.app with Symlinks instructions:

• Clonemaker will create a "shallow path" clone, with the Contents subdirectory you'd expect to find at:

/Applications/EVE\ Online\ Clone.app/Contents/Resources/EVE\ Online.app/Contents

instead lodged at:

/Applications/EVE\ Online\ Clone.app/Contents

Nested inside, Frameworks/, PkgInfo, Resources/ and Version.plist are indeed symlinks (and point where you'd expect them to), while Info.plist and MacOS/ (with cider inside) are actual copies.

Not sure which option is the most efficient/foolproof, between the Clonemaker routine or a slightly modified version of the (manual) Duplicating EVE Online.app with Symlinks instructions present in the wiki, but it seems worth deciding, if only for consistency's sake, and to maybe avoid further confusion ?

My client just disappeared and the "ganker" I mean "launcher" tried to dl the full client. Is this your idea of a "feature" ready to deploy?

Fortunately I have full backups.

CCP fix this!

Mac Pro 2 x 2.66GHz 8GB RAM running 10.6.8

Edit: An improvement! The launcher runs! When I click "play", it quits. Oh well. A 10 Gigabyte application that quits. I bet I can optimize their app to be a lot smaller.

Not!

Not sure how they go about testing the mac client but they need to do it differently as what they are doing is not working. On my 3 year old macbook pro with lion, which was working great last night, the launcher is broken and I can't even start the game. On my roommates 3 day old macbook pro, which was working great last night, now has a framerate of about 1-10 or so making it impossible to walk in stations. And when he tried to do a mission it froze twice in 5 min, basically making it unplayable.

The only good thing is that my alienware gaming desktop seems to handle it just fine, but I still had to restart the client 3 times to do all the patches? So what is the point of the launcher again?

At this point they need to rollback the client immediately and stop trying to fix what aint broken, especially for the mac.

I don't care about all the technical reasons or excuses, the result is failure.

I love my Macbook Pro and the OSX series, but I have come to hate the iProducts like iPhone, iPad, etc. So am I considered an "Apple Fanboy" or not?

I agree. Total failure is not a "successful deployment" to anyone except morons. Roll it back. Yesterday's client worked.

I would also say Total failure is an overstatement, since I for one am running two clients just fine.

Either way, launching a second client now works via launching the EVE Online app again after loading the first client. It will bring you back to the launcher, if you hit Play again, it will launch a second instance of the game. Probably not as quick and smooth as the clone method, but it's finally a built in feature for the Mac.

The Launcher is a bit slow, it could use some love to ensure it loads and gives you access to the game faster. I'm playing on a 2.93 GHz Quadcore i7 iMac and it just seems there is some wasted time querying the server for updates.

Also, a possible crash, the game has hung for me twice when I've tried changing chat channels. I'll keep playing and hopefully the issue doesn't persist.
