I have NEVER been able to patch this game 'properly'. The installer downloaded via the game client ALWAYS hangs - on 'initializing, please wait...' on running patch_win.exe. ALWAYS.

Likewise - running repair.exe has never done anything but let it run in the background without any noticeable effects whatsoever...

Without being able to download a patch manually - I cannot play this game! (Hopefully the launcher will help - but if I cannot download it and install it - it doesn't matter...!)

(I'm not downloading the full client again...).

Well - nice to know I'm not alone... (P.s. This is for the PC (not Mac)).

Dammit.

As I said - the repair tool does nothing, and never has done anything... repair.exe has been running for 2 hours and no result... (It's listed on task-manager/processes, so I know it's running, but. I'm assuming it's supposed to do more than just sit there and do nothing?).

I need a patch/update to download - that's the only option that has ever worked - without that I cannot play...

I have to agree with Kathina Tryidal.

I have not been able for last two days to play the game.

Please return the option to be able to manually download and apply a patch. This is the only option for many people who have strict network policies at work or university/school networks.

I am network programmer. If I wanted to I could bypass my network firewall/proxy but doing so is against the user agreement that I have signed.

May I suggest you give the option to manually download it via torrent technology if http was too resource heavy on your servers.

This fails across the board

Yesterday after server came up I patched and failed. I rebooted and left all browsers closed as the work around stated. Then it worked I was able to log in and continue my skill que. I log out then log back and BAMMMM the launcher wants to repatch again and its been hell since.

I can not even manually down load the client via the launcher it fails in 3 seconds.

Right then - follow up...

I finally figured out what was going wrong - my firewall was borked - (not letting repair.exe through, even though I told it to - and then stopped letting me make any changes at all - weird - (I've ran a full virus/spyware check and found nothing, so...)). I re-installed it and then it worked - and repair.exe downloaded ~200MB worth of data in multiple goes - (why couldn't it do it all at once?) before finally installing the launcher and updates etc.

(I didn't know Crucible 1.5 was that big?)

But it worked - finally...

I deleted the client to start fresh prolly a mistake. Click on the Windows tab to download a new client and get the message to manually download. I have just finished the second manual download, clicked on the "executable" (another word for the broken launcher) and I go on a merry journey accepting the agreements, accepting the default file location, click on install...and I get the error message I'll hace to download manually...wtf is this all ablut? Eve worked beautifully, better that ever...until this screw up over a launcher. If a launcher is so important why didn't you use Steam rather than reinvent the wheel and then fail. I shake my head in wonder. Meanwhile I have two paid accounts that I can't play. Roll back the stupid launcher for gods sake till you get it right.

Developers...you guys are completely missing the freaking point here!!!! Our games worked fine UNTIL the LAUNCHER!!! No I will not shut off my internet security...why does my antivirus "think it's under attack"??? THE PROBLEM IS THE LAUNCHER, not me, not my ISP, not my firewall, not my antivirus...cause all these things are unchanged from a week ago when I could play. It is entirely the launcher.

And now that I have read more, I will not be renewing my accounts if I can't play obviously, I figure about two weeks. Each day I will go to the Eve Online download site, click the Windows tab and if Eve does not install like it has for years without all the BS, I will try the next day and so on until payment is due.

I think I ought to back up the version I now have - (just backing up the Eve online folder and settings was enough before - will it still be enough even with the launcher etc.?).
