my crucible 1.5 update won't initialize after extracting + manual install fails

dear ccp/eve player,

when i try to update my game it downloads the update, verifies the files, extracts them and when it starts to apply nothing happens anymore. i have to shut down the updater thru the taskmanager.
i've tried to install the full client manually ( wich i already had to do with most of the content updates in the last few months) but now it fails at installing directx in the end so that doesnt work anymore either.
can anyone help me with this?

im using windows xp 32 bit and my eve runs from an external hard drive.

Hi!

Not sure if its the same issue, but when I used new installer, it said it failed to install patch

I tried repair, and - it failed!!!

I cleared cache, tried repair - it failed

I was about to un-install Eve client, and when I tried, it told me eve was already running (although not visible in applications).

So, I rebooted my pc, just before uninstalling I figured Id give it one more go

Hey presto it worked!!!
