A True Answer To High Sec Incursions

Keep the rewards the same, just lower the sec status of the systems the Incursions are affecting to 0.4 until the Incursions are over! It's adds to the roleplay element - Sanshas Nation have taken over the systems - allows RP element because pirates and Cultists of Sansha can plague the lawless systems until the npcs are destroyed. All criminal actions in the systems would affect sec status as normal.

To stop any carebears stumbling into the area by mistake all auto pilot jumps are stopped when reaching the area. Nobody can enter the area or undock from stations in affected areas without bypassing a huge warning flash up that they have to click passed to continue.

Simples.

I agree completely with you on the logic of this, but so long as people as risk adverse, CCP will not do this and alienate their playerbase.

EDIT: be prepared for flames :D

No flames here. I like the idea, and it makes a hell of a lot more sense than seeing concord ships showing up in force to a gank in a sansha incursion, and then both the sansha and concord ships ignoring each other. I'd swear it's a conspiracy. P

I agree. However for the sake of story I think it would still be a 0.5-1.0 and the higher the systems original sec status was the higher the concord security hit (so if you kill someone in an incursion 0.5 system you would get 2x to 3x the sec status hit of a 0.4 and in a 1.0 it would be 4x to 6x the sec status hit of a 0.4. And possibly buffed gate and station guns too decrease the risk too newbies traveling through.

Or just restrict incursions to low and null sec space... achieves the same thing, but without ******* over the local systems with the sec drop.

I endorse the OP's suggestion. While not entirely sure about forcing carebears to stay docked during an incursion (let's face it, some people are just plain afraid of the notion of low sec), I think it's a good idea. High-sec incurisons SHOULD be more dangerous the closer you get to the incursion systems.

By the same token, however, the loot and bounties should be available for those that find the idea of ratting in incursion systems fun... As long as everyone understands the increased risk that comes with low sec and no (limited?) CONCORD response time, go for it.

Or just fix Vanguards' payouts to be more in-line with their difficulty and the payout/difficulty of the other sites.

That was my exact idea!!!

And it makes sense... if Sansha is taking over a section of hisec... it would make sense that Concord and Faction navy's would fall back to tighter rings of defense and not be able to operate per normal.

This would force and rally hisec bears to work together to finish off the incursion rather than farm the sites for weeks on end if they want their precious concord back.

Therein lies your logic error...if it turns into a .4 system, they won't go do it :) You can't change player psychology with in game mechanics.

EvE has butt loads of logic loopholes in the name of game-play anyway. I don't really know anything about PVE, I have only ever done PVP, rollin' deep in my Merlin right after the tutorial. The only time I have ever seen anyone in low sec or null sec doing an incursion, it was 60-100 of your fav alliance, slaughtering everything on field with supercaps (Capsuleers and NPC alike) and taking the mothership bpo :)

Some of my w-systems have lowsec statics, so I am quite often passing thru lowsec incursions areas ... and they are almost always completely empty.

If the lowsec dwellers are not, by and large, making use of the incursions (nope, they're all hopping into hisec to run them aren't they) why would you see turning hisec incursions into lowsec incursions as being a good thing? You will just be turning a game feature that is very popular with the player-base into one that does not get used. That doesn't make much sense to me.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

dont drop it to 0.4, just drop it by 0.1 and put the VG sites in the 0.5 systems ;)

I like the principal, but making highsec suddenly lowsec would definitely tick off whoever is living there, miners and mission runners alike

Either there would need to be a warning of several days before the sec drops (which wouldn't fit the RP environment), or they would need to be restricted to low/null which I think would help balance out the problem with lowsec which is that there is just far too little reward for the massive risk the pirate infestation poses.

This could be countered... Mayby 2 days before an incursion appears there space becomes green and the belt rats turn nasty. But the actual sites dont spawn and the sec status stays as is. Also gives incursion runners prior knowlage too where a new incursion will appear prior too it showing in the journal providing they have an adequet intel network (thus also encouraging more player team building.

So, basically, you advocating making it even EASIER. Yeah, that's a solution.

Will do precisely NOTHING to address the issue as many see it. Sounds like some people in this thread want easier, more profitable incursions. I say make them a crap-load harder.

It would be nice if incursions were a bit more like a pirate faction launching incursions rather than some group PVE sites spwaning in empty space.

Hmm... you mean I get to wait for an incursion in the Kimotoro constellation to bring in a cap fleet and clear out a few of moons around there... hmm...

While I would personally find that highly entertaining I can see how some people would see it as a bit of a problem.

Actually it would be awesome to shoot down the customs offices and put up new ones which would then be CONCORD defended once the incursion is over though!

There is allready incursions in lowsec ... people rarely go there.

If all the incursion systems turned into lowsec areas .. people would rarely go there. It would be a pirate sausagefest 9000 ... 100 "pirates" sitting in the system waiting for some poor uninformed "returning to game" incursion runner to stumble in.

Might aswell delete highsec incursions alltogether and force people back to singleplayer crapgame called level-4.

Because afterall .... Loosing a shitton of players is the best thing that can happen to EVE with allready starved playerbase. Do note that one guy with 6 accounts is still only 1 guy.

And the best part is the pirates would be sitting on the highsec gate(s) with neutral orcas and t3s ready to gank and bail at the first sign of risk.

You really have to hand it to the ~elitepvp~ crowd in this game, they foam at the mouth over every player that refuses to take the immense risk of piloting around their space on a regular basis in a pve fit ship, but when it comes to their own business they take on less risk than anyone who joins a highsec incursion fleet with pub logi pilots.

Don't see any benefit in OPs idea. If the point is to make sense, why should it have to anyway. As long as it's fun, who cares about making sense?

I saw a post by CCP that although it is true that incursion needs some fixes, the incursion payouts have little to do with the current inflation (and that the main cause is the recent anomaly buff).

So, I would like to suggest just fixing the specific issues (like farming?) and leave the basic concepts of incursions as it is now.
