Wine & EVE Launcher (Patch 1.5) broken.

So it seems that the EVE Launcher breaks the client for Wine users

trying to start eve.exe gives me no output at al just crashes while running Exefile.exe gives me a c++ runtime error.

Ravow from the Linux channel also in forums did some digging and got the crash pointing to manifest file. He will hopefully fill the details into this post asap.

But at it seems now with patch 1.5 Linux users won't be able to play.
If someone had any other results please post.

Finally CCP managed to help me out of EVE. From 201203121100 I can enjoy real life again, should start with the dishesUgh.

I really hope this is a mistake by DEV and not by MGT.

Do you get any sort of error message? Also, do you get any logs from launcher/cache/launcher.log? If so, could you throw it up on pastebin or something so that we can take a look at it? That would help us out a lot.

I can confirm that this issue is not only affecting sisi. Its also affecting tranquillity since this morning patch. I get same error with wine 1.4 latest release.

The same here.

The update have installed without any problem but i cannot lauch anymore the game since the update.

With wine in debug mode, i got this exception trace

I think msvcp100 and msvcr100 shipped with eve conflicting somehow with wine.

1. install vcrun2010 using winetricks: "winetricks vcrun2010", you need to manually download msxml3 here http://download.cnet.com/Microsoft-XML-Parser-MSXML-3-0-Service-Pack-7-SP7/3000-7241_4-10731613.html
2. go to winecfg -> libraries and set from "msvcr100 (native, builtin)" to "msvcr100(builtin, native)"
3. Profit!

I've been experiencing the same issue with WIne and Crucible 1.5 update and solution presented by Van Brum doesn't really fix anything for me, the only difference is i get a different error message while trying to start the client.

With or without fix trying to start repair.exe gives the very same c++ runtime error.

Unfortunately i can't check whether or not the client works under windows.

confirmed. works perfectly

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

It would appear that it's crucial to have the lastest version of wine available as well otherwise Eve is not going to work.

After updating my wine from 1.2.3 to 1.3.xxx (something) Van Brum's solution is working like a charm. Nice job :)

If Eve still closes or returns to launcher after following Van Braum's solution and you get the following in console

wine: Call from 0x7ef883b0 to unimplemented function msvcrt.dll._set_printf_count_output, aborting

Go to winecfg -> Libraries and set msvcrt to (builtin, native). My WINEPREFIX had it set to (native, builtin), which caused the problem.

am I the only one that for some reason gets the error on msvcr90 ??? also launcher update 1.09 does not install for me ... says failed to load python27.dll

I love windows DLL hell ....

not able to play or patch since yesterday ... if I don't fix it till tomorrow, I'll ask for a refund of the remaining month ...

What the hell !

The fix works yesterday and today i get this error uppon the eve splash screen:

With debug, it seems the problem is:
Unhandled exception: unimplemented function MSVCR100.dll._fstat64i32 called in 32-bit code (0x7bc4c770).

Like if it was a 64 bits call on a 32 bits system to access files...

Allright that works again with:

msvcr100 (builtin, native)
msvcr80 (builtin, native)
msvcr90 (builtin, native)

I suppose you have to do the same for msvcrt if you have it.
