The Launcher seems to be a bit superfluous, CCP

the launcher is half finished, it should be able to patch multi installs on the same pc from 1 launcher, i shouldnt need to run this thing 6 times. the import/export function is a pain, it used to be 1 tick box 'clear up downloaded data'.

multi client launcher yay

Uhhh I run 3 "installs" and launching one updated them all. What OS are you running and are you using a completely separate install (e.g. a complete copy of all the files in another folder) for each?

If your using Windows then look into Junction's - this works fine for single updates for "mutli" installs.

Again we get something new :awesome: that is one step forward one step back.

Why do I now have to download every patch twice (two clients) when before this I only had to download it once and then reuse the downloaded data for the second client?

Check my post right above your's. That method works for single updating for me so far. It might even save you disk space (if your creating full copies of each install anyway!)

Judging by the responses on the first page of GD, I'd say I wasn't overreacting in my initial assessment.

I like the launcher but then I have like 4 or 5 other games that I play now and then that all have their own launchers.

I also don't whine, b***h and complain about every single thing CCP does like 80% of this forum's population.

Because the devs involved didn't see any practical use to use several client installations before it was too late.

Perhaps we get multi client support back to crucible 2.75.

Yes I am aware that there is import export patch function in "hidden" menu, but I would expect that launcher is wise enough to patch all installed clients automatically when it is ran once.

Or you could just save yourself the headache and use the recommended method (that I've linked already a number of times in this thread).

Does for me, at least the one's I use like monitor settings - they are stored in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\ under the names of the folder - even if done through the Junction Paths.

So for example I have

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve2_tranquility
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve3_tranquility

I'd assume that the other relevant settings would be stored along with the monitor res, gfx settings, account names etc (at least they are for me). I'll gladly screenshot for you as proof if you want.

if they can store monitor adaptor numbers and there locations, would be half the battle

So after the launcher installed and updated... it launched eve, then told me I had to install Client Update #1 for this patch... working as intended?

you forget to mention it will restart client as well. So Launcher does only half work for now, patch game binaries but not download optional patch client update.

Answers like this makes me think did you even want to study why in the world it would be more beneficial to run clients from different hard disks. If I didn't find any performance increase in this, obviously I would be running several instances of 1 client and not complaining about lack of multi client support in here.

Get a SSD? :P But fair enough, I can see why there.

That said, how would the launcher know where the other installs would be? I didn't think it put anything for it to see where the installs were located?

Maybe having the ability to add the location (it'd be quicker than it searching) for cases like that would be good.

Having a launcher for a MMORPG isn't that uncommon. Indeed EVE was the one and only MMORPG I knew not using any kind of startup file check/patcher/launcher so far.

Also if there are no patches to be deployed if you have these settings in the launcher checked eve will work in its previous ways.

- Only display the launcher window when there is an update

- Close the EVE Launcher after starting EVE Online

This is good and exactly what I was hoping for.
