Additional thoughts:

Assuming this isn't just something CCP broke (which wouldn't surprise me), I'm pretty sure most of us would have agreed to having any sec bonuses split between all parties involved. I can understand it being considered excessive to give everyone with a target painter the same boost as if they'd killed the rat solo. But the solution isn't to deny them any benefits at all. Even a few days' warning on the matter would have yielded that bit of feedback.

If they want to encourage us to work together more, why would they make a boneheaded change that rewards non-cooperative play?

Hmmm... You mean something like incursions? Oh wait, people were too busy complaining about the as isk fountains to realize challenging pve.

Yes, nerfing without an indication in the patch notes is bad. Yet the conspiracy theories and tinfoil hat wearing you all are doing is worse. No ccp isn't out to get pirates. If they were, you wouldn't be able to engage people in low sec at all.

My bet, ccp realized that people could fix sec status easily through incursions and this change balanced that mechanic out. It's just something to deal with and move on.

First off, this is my -10 pirate, i wear this -10 with pride, I do not care about sec gaining since ill never do it on this account... However, this does bring reprecussions on low sec day travelers, noobs, and anyone else that wants a quick fight but likes to play the game another way 90% of the time.

Now, inregards to the incursions. Yes it as/ is a isk fountain, guess what, it should be. The isk payouts should be where they are at. I think that CCP should have made less incursions running at any moment, so instead of 5 incurions 2 in 00, 3 in high, they should make it just 2 period, but that would cause lots of lag, and many more tears from people in those limited systems.

What bothers me is that CCP saw a sec gaining problem in the incursions, was too easy to sec up, whatever, so their logical solution was to make sec go to the final blow.... really? So your solution to an incursion problem was to edit all the sec for all npc rats throughout the game? 00, low, high, missions, incursions rats all had to be effected because of the incursions?

Is it that difficult to just make the incursion rats not give sec? bam. Done. just fixed your problem. Now CCP can encourage co-op / fleet work for incursions for isk, rats for sec, etc etc. I always see the adds for the buddy program, or invite your buddy, fly with the power of 2. I thought this was great marketing, show how eve is a group game..... But now when i give my buddy the buddy program, i dont want to fly with him since i want the sec gain, or i want the isk payout.... defeats the purpose.

"Hey man you should play this game with me, and by with me i mean not with me cus i want the payouts and bonuses. I just want you to play with me so i can have someone to complain to."

Im not unsubbing my accounts, im not changing my gameplay much, (an extra 2 days for sec gain when i drop below -2.)
But i am going to no longer ask my friends if they want to play with me. Since there is no point. They wouldnt be playing with me anyways...

Guess my friends and i will just play SWTOR together instead of eve together.
THANKS CCP for your MMO game that is now my new Halo.

Exactly. CCP is segmenting the "sandbox" with changes like this. They're steadily turning highsec into a co-op zone of consensual PVP, where the only way to apply force today is via suicide ganks. This is yet another blow to lowsec, when it was in dire need of a boost. They're leaving nullsec alone...for now. But it's not exactly a fun place to be anyway.

Crucible and Inferno are supposed to be about conflict. Let's hope the latter actually delivers some.

Waaahhh waaaahh i cant fix my sec status by target painting some carebears mission battleships. Waaaah waaah bad sec status is a liability now instead of an easily worked around nuisance waaah waah. I cant go to high sec anymore waah waah.

Please, for the love of god, unsub and dont come back.

Roll

This was a stealth nerf, which resulted in the game mechanics performing in a way they had not prior to the patch, without any documentation. If you can't see the problem with that, stop posting, unsub, and go play Angry Birds.

An all-or-nothing approach is rarely the solution. This patch punishes people who work together as well as people who leech on mission runners. Split the sec bonus evenly, find a way to divide it "fairly", do whatever you have to to avoid THIS.

One dev did say that the patch notes missed this and will be amended. That said, is this a horrible nerf?

As I recall, sec status improvents only counted the top bounty ship in each 15 minute tic unless you forced a session change. In other words, if you beat a level 4 mission in under 15 minutes, it would be the same as killing 1 battleship rat in that 15 minutes.

Originally, if you were in a group, you would all split the standing gain from the one ship as long as you did some offensive action to the ship, even including just a Target painter.

Now, whomever laid the final blow gets the sec improvement, no splitting.

So why not just have each person in fleet make sure they get the final blow on one battleship per site/mission/15 minute interval?

Is there some limit or part I'm missing? Are these characters who need to improve sec not capable of killing one rat, yet can function fine in pvp? What am I missing that makes thus such a horrible nerf? (apart from the stealth part which may have just been a mistake on the part of the patch note author.)

Oh god, now your 5 man ratting fleet has to find 5 battleships to shoot every 15 minutes instead of just one. How will you ever manage?

Who cares if they didn't tell you. The game works a certian way now. You can either keep on playing, finding new tactics and tricks, and not giving a damn or you can whine about on the forums like an impotent child. You appear to have chosen your path already.

Yes, really jump hard and get all excited over sec status. LOL last I checked if you were a pirate it didn't bother you so much. Now EVE got harsher and you actually get a consequence of your risky action....more grind to fix it up. Run rampant across highsec and now its going to hurt, this little change keeps you in check.

To bad CCP can't add an isk penalty as well. As your sec status gets lower, taxes get applied causing your market transactions to go up in price, contracts fees increase, penalty cost for manual trade in station, jump gate toll charge, med clone increases like a combination of contraceptive and child support costs Twisted. Hah! This version of EVE would be glorious! You would actually have a Butthurt Oops moment of very harsh consequences to your actions Lol

wow you dont understand the problem at all, ccp did this to prevent people from suiciding the people who pay them all the moneys to sit in highsec farming incursions and such. ccp donst care about the majority only the people who buy all the plexs with money .
the fact you want more nerfing on this means you are one of those farming pubbys.

I have to agree with all of the criticism of CCP in this thread, this stealth nerfs/mechanics changes are just not good for the game or it's playerbase. For all of you who agree with these sorts of changes, it's all fun and games until it changes something that affects you. Personally I think CCP should apologise for this change, hold some form of consultation on lowsec and hi-sec pvp and ask the community as a whole what they actually want instead of what seems to be a series of broken patches and stealth nerfs towards EVE 'Carebear Adventure' Online.

lmao ccp asking the community, they may ask but then they will go do what ever they hell they want to try and create there "dream" of what eve should be.
Some one take EVE away from CCP now before they kill it.

ps: remove EVE from the sandbox Genre now
