When I tried to get on EVE this morning I saw that there was an update so I let EVE update to the recent version. The new launcher came up, and I started looking around at it and set it to not appear unless there was a patch. When I hit play, nothing happened and eventually I closed the launcher but was unable to bring it back up.

So far I have uninstalled and tried to reinstall, but the EVE installer comes up with "An unknown error occurred while downloading the installer payload", and manually installing and extracting the payload that way still leaves it unable to start.
Not really sure what to do at this point, but I would really like to be able to play EVE at some point.

I'm getting problems when trying to install, and then again when I repair and the launcher does not work at all:

Repair claims to fix it, but I still have the same problem.

Their weird thing is though, I have not gotten any error messages or error codes besides the installer one.

hey try reinstalling and then run the repair first and then run the game, seems to work for me, not 100% sure it will yet. But it looks like progress.

Will report when it's done.

I can't even get the launcher to start, and the repair tool does the same thing regardless of whether I do it first or not.

After working with it for a while by re-installing and running the repair tool several times I was able to get it to start up, but after I closed it, I can no longer launch the game from the patcher, getting a verification failure at 'D:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\bin\tbb.dll' crc:5132619a, expected:c7817fba, and it suggests that I run the repair client or reinstall, but neither have any effect.

I'm thinking this could have been thought through a bit better.

I had a problem with launcher also. It would stop the patch at like 3% and then the laucher would display an error message, don't remember what it was because after 30min of attempting to hit the repair tool and havving th launcher close on me, I uninstalled the client as a whole.

I downloaded a new client installer, but it also fails as soon as I begin the install.

My EVE is ******* brokedick and I'm not happy!! *stomps around room in a circle

any thoughts?

This sounds very much like data corruption. would you mind uploading your EVE/launcher/cache/launcher.log to Pastebin or somesuch so that I can have a look? Thanks.

After re-installing and repairing today I was able to get it to work, but I have to re-install then repair every time I start up EVE because it says that same file cannot be verified.

Either way, here is the Pastebin

I am having the same problem as the creator of the topic. I can not install Eve online. When i try to install EVE the launcher says "an unknown error occured, could not download the payloads" . I have tried to download the paylods from the website and i get the same error. I have even tried reinstalling my entire system... so now i only have Win 7 Ultimate installed and it still wont work with all the firewalls disabled what sould i do? I have had this problem for 2 days now.

I have been trying to get in for the last 6 hours. I tried ALL the fixes posted and none of them worked. downloaded all the repair files listed. Disabled my AV (wont say which one but can say it wasn't ESET). Poked holes in my firewall. Nothing worked to that point.

Very last thing I tried was doing a COMPLETE uninstall of the client. Then I Deleted ALL the .7z "payload" files, Installer files, the entire CCP folder from my program files. I then rebooted the computer.

I downloaded the 2 payload files from the EVE offline installer page and the executable. Re-enabled my AV, fixed the holes in my firewall. Everything now works...at least until the next patch. I have launcher version 1.09 which seems to work at the moment.

I would have done a complete wipe of my W7 OS except that I just did that last week to get Crucible 1.5 to install correctly in the 1st place..

This launcher is unecessary and isnt needed. The manual patching should be re-instated. The launcher is nothing but redundancy. After reading all the reasons why the Devs created the launcher, the only reason that appears constantly is to make patching automatic. Well Automatic isnt working. Manual patching is the way to go.

In the parlance of older Eve related commentary "If you dont like the new stuff HTFU" CCP needs to follow their own advice on this issue. Remove the Launcher, HTFU and dont get fancy with needless crap like this. If the players dont like it then they can HTFU as well.

I'm as hard as I can be without bursting a vein which is why im posting this. HTFU can only work so long as I can GET INTO THE GAME which this launcher is making very difficult to do!
