Yes, really jump hard and get all excited over sec status. LOL last I checked if you were a pirate it didn't bother you so much. Now EVE got harsher and you actually get a consequence of your risky action....more grind to fix it up. Run rampant across highsec and now its going to hurt, this little change keeps you in check.

To bad CCP can't add an isk penalty as well. As your sec status gets lower, taxes get applied causing your market transactions to go up in price, contracts fees increase, penalty cost for manual trade in station, jump gate toll charge, med clone increases like a combination of contraceptive and child support costs Twisted. Hah! This version of EVE would be glorious! You would actually have a Butthurt Oops moment of very harsh consequences to your actions Lol

And this change to sec status gain from ratting is another sign that CCP is turning EVE into a protected environment for PVE players.

^^This^^

To which I might add:

That blog is bang-on right--CCP seems to forcing on everyone the solo PvE component--in a game whose solo PvE component is for the most part a laughably archaic, un-immersive, gratingly tedious, bag of shite.

Try building a PvE component in your game that's actually fun, immersive, and dynamic--like, first!--before forcing it on people, OK?

Or is what I am beginning to suspect true, that you actually haven't learned anything from the Incarna debacle, and this "turn-around" is just a token gesture to grub back a few more subs before going back to the same old ::Awesome?::

[/cynicism]

E: In my experience--my "co-main's" corp requires that we try to keep our sec-status above -2.00, as we do hisec merc work and war-decs (don't even get me started!Ugh)--being able to rat with mates whilst looking for PvP is what helped make the need to rat tolerable. Solo-chaining belts in null is...grating. Just grating, and nothing will ever change this without completely re-inventing this game's whole PvE component.

Star Wars: the Old Republic may not be EVE. But I'll take the sound of dual blaster-pistols over "NURVV CLAOKING NAOW!!!11oneone!!" any day of the week.

Oh Gods, this rubbish again.

I neither know nor care who your RMT/bot-lord Alliance main is, honey, but you nulltard types need to get it through your thick heads:

1) Not everybody wants to be in null and deal with the bullshit that comes with that territory
2) PvP in EVE neither is, nor is supposed to be a choice between only -10 perma-blinky or nullsec meatshield.

Look up the term "sandbox/open-world MMO" before spewing this same, lame, tired crap, please?

Thank you!

Before I came here, I always said that if I ever played one MMO, it would be Eve Online. I'd read countless stories of criminal mischief, piracy, and thievery; I wanted to play that game. For eight years it's been one of the big selling points of the game, and CCP has capitalized on that. When I started playing less than two years ago, I had to learn to navigate a dangerous universe, even as a carebear in highsec. And I enjoyed it

Today, we have CCP making Eve into an increasingly safe universe. More and more, people are protected from their own stupidity. Where CCP should be making sure people understand the risks of something, instead they simply remove the risk. CCP is turning highsec into what could at best be described as a co-op game, and they're gutting lowsec by discouraging daytripping and ignoring what little unique content exists there. It's gotten so utterly dull that I've abandoned highsec in favor of living in a wormhole again, building up cash while I wait for Inferno to tell me whether CCP has any interest in keeping my business

I'm not going to unsub any accounts today. I believe CCP is deaf to such protests. What they hear is outcry. They hear protests, rage, what the carebears think passes for tears (protip for the carebears: if you want to sound cool, learn wtf tears are). We've been a neglected group because we've been complacent. While the carebears have been out there whining about everything we do, we've kept to ourselves. We've been repeatedly nerfed because we haven't made our voices heard.

It's time for the pirates, the gankers, the ninjas, the mercenaries, the lowsec daytrippers, and all the rest of us to be heard. Let's make some noise!

Clearly, CCP's game changes are attempts to further monetize in-game activities into real life profits for themselves

You want a -10 alt, then you pay for a clean alt to bring you stuff from markets. Do you really want to play on a freighter alt all day long? No, so you have 2 accounts... maybe more.

to me the changes just mean you're a full-time piwate or not a piwate at all, no more moon-lighting weekend warrior types playing piwate in the sandbox, now you must be hardcore and ofc rl cash-on hand doesn't hurt

Any call to stir up the static turd float of hi sec fills me with joy, count me in.

PS: this is my opinion so GFYS if you don't agree with me and save your shyt poasting for battle-clinic please.

I'm with Darius on this one. This is a bad nerf.
While I approve of the tears of the people who use team tactics like this to rebuild sec status en masse on their alts for suicide ganking, the most damaging effect I think is for the non-piraty people, the casual pirates, and the newbies.

These are all people who will want to keep their sec status at least marginally positive, so they can go back to high sec to resupply or do other things they like doing. Teaming up with people to rat up sec status is one way of making this activity more enjoyable, and more effective. With this nerf, anti-pirates will have to spend more time ratting than hunting pirates, casual pirates and general low-sec dwellers like me will also feel this pain, as they too will be forced to choose either to go -10 or spend ages ratting.
Finally, newbies will be more scared to go into low sec now too, because getting back sec status will be much harder.

In all, this is a bad thing. The penalty for piracy was fine before, now it's harshes, yes, but not in a good sense. it means more grinding, which means less time for fun things.

And yes, this is coming from an industrialist. I like my odd little pew pew every now and then too, when I'm bored of hauling stuff, or just want to blow somethign up that is not an NPC.

Hmmm... You mean something like incursions? Oh wait, people were too busy complaining about the as isk fountains to realize challenging pve.

Yes, nerfing without an indication in the patch notes is bad. Yet the conspiracy theories and tinfoil hat wearing you all are doing is worse. No ccp isn't out to get pirates. If they were, you wouldn't be able to engage people in low sec at all.

My bet, ccp realized that people could fix sec status easily through incursions and this change balanced that mechanic out. It's just something to deal with and move on.

Well, Incursions just don't sound like a Hell of a lot of fun to me, spamming fits into the chat-channels and hoping you get accepted--eventually--into some elitist carebear ISK-farmer's fleet of bling-barges....I like to do my own thing, on my own time, and my own fault if I get urp-sploded in losec.

And I meant solo'able content, in ships that don't cost ISK 2Bn-plus.

Losec exploration is about the only one that even comes close, at present, and that is most certainly not guaranteed ISK--and even if it was, then it would still not be adding any new ISK into the economy, it would simply be moving ISK that already exists between players when you sell that nice Pithum A-Type Medium Shield-Booster.

With, I might add, an infinitely better-balanced risk<--->reward component.

And those complaints are 100% legitimate:

The Incursion ISK-faucet has finally brought about the inflationary spiral we all feared was coming (did you really think Tier-1 battleships would stay at ca. ISK 45Mn forever with the amount of ISK already in the economy prior to Incursions?) This is what tipped it over, and lo and behold, 45Mn is what battlecruisers now cost, not to mention PLEX going for over half-again to what they were just 5-6 months ago. That's what happens when you fire-hose in an extra 20-30% more ISK into the economy with no commensurate ISK-sinks.

Hey, thanks a **** of a lot, carebears, way to screw over the entire crop of newer/younger players, especially those who may be RL-cash poor, and actually have the temerity to want to PvP in an open-world PvP-centric game, without going perma-blinky!

There's nothing tinfoil-hat about this, it has been proven repeatedly, and your worm's-eye-view ISK-grubbing, and the entitlement-mentality you display regarding it are, frankly, disgusting.

Frigging carebears--every sandbox that ever existed, your type's unthinking parasitism blithely, blindly ruins, and it seems that EVE may be next.

GTFO/FOAD!

Theres no rage, just disappointment. That they do not even bother to mention a change witch changes something so fundamental, nor even bother to inform the CSM that it is coming or get any input just shows disrespect to everyone whom is impacted by this change, and disrespect to the CSM and the players that voted for them.

This doesnt impact me personally much as I dont need to shoot anyone to make mad money suiciding. Cowardly changing a mechanic without bothering to disclose it to players makes an outfit look incompetent at best, deceptive at worst. Or both.
