Has anybody tried the new Launcher?

I see on login that tomorrow's update will have a new launcher.

Has anybody tried this out on the test server? Is it even available there?

This seems to be the sort of thing that could make Wine sad, potentially....

Apparently it works for some people, but I have yet to manage a successful test run with the Singularity code.

Put on a long skill. I am. (Even if you have a Windows backup. There have been recent problems reported even there).

The launcher works fine, updates, fixes - et all.
the social networking icons don't function, but that might be down to the issues effecting the in-game browser.

I just can't get the client to run without crashing after it's done patching.

fyi

I ran the SisiLauncher.exe to get the launcher installed

then

env WINEPREFIX="/home/quandry247/.wine" wine C:\\Program\ Files\\CCP\\EVEcopy\\launcher\\launcher.exe /Singularity

if folks have the knowse to get further than me i'd appreciate it if you shared.

At all, ever again? Or just right then?

That is, after it's done patching, if you re-run Eve, is all well again?

Up to now, I've not patched from within the launcher. I download the patch and run it manually through Wine. I've had better luck with that than letting the current launcher do it.

I'm hoping that the new launcher isn't so user friendly that this way of working will no longer be an option.... And, if it's not, I hope that us Linux folks can still get on.

(I have no Windows backup install, because I have no Windows anywhere.)

Same here. I'm sure someone clever will find out what's causing this and get us playing Eve again.

switching msvcr100.dll from "native, builtin" to "builtin, native" doesn't seem to work on Wine 1.3x
Khi3l, what version of wine are you using?

Anyone else can confirm that switching msvcr100.dll settings makes it work?

Worked for me too.

UPDATE: debian, wine 1.4 (from http://dev.carbon-project.org/debian/wine-unstable/)

UPDATE2: needed to install vcrun2010 where I haven't had one. Afterwards switching msvcr100.dll to builtin, native.
This procedure worked using wine 1.3.33 as well as 1.4

Yeah, I'm unable to get this working under 1.2.2, which ships with ubuntu 11.04.

If anyone else needs to find this setting to try it, do winecfg, select library, scroll down to the msvcr100 one, click add, edit, and change it.

I had the same problem.

I installed vcrun2010 through winetricks

winetricks dlls vcrun2010

then I ran winecfg and changed msvcr100.dll from "native, builtin" to "builtin, native"

It works now :)

This solved the problem for me. Arch Linux x64 - wine 1.4

This is probably also necessary.. I think I had already done this trying to get some other games working.
