I've always wanted to play Aion, i was one of the first beta testers and I must say i enjoyed the game. I was obsessed with this game back before it came out, I was one of the thousand of so people part of Aionsource.com back in 08 and 09. Back then i though it was the coolest game ever, and the new fantasy mmo which would replace all others. I never actually played it, played the beta for like 3/4 hours then never played again, not sure why.. most likely because i was broke. Anyway has anyone actually played the game since it's release? Every once in awhile i watch some game play videos but i was some reviews from people who've played. Since it's now free is it worth playing?

Aion was a blast for a while. And if you like the PvP of EVE then you can get that same feel in areas of the game after level 20. The problem ended up being a hard grind coupled with not a lot of places to go do it (you might run a game dungeon dozens of times if not more). That and the large PVP battles that took place for control of areas of the map just turned into a lag festival for anyone not running a top rig with better than standard residential Internet speed.

Low population would hurt this game too. But if they've improved in those areas and people are playing (very important, you cant't solo much outside of open area stuff) then it could be a lot of fun. It had a great look and flying, when you could, was outstanding.

It's got me thinking now. I may give it a go.
