Friends Getting Standing Benefits

If I share a mission with a friend, do they get standing benefits despite having poor standings? Are there any other restrictions that will prevent them gaining standing with a NPC Corp or faction?

Faction standings are not shared. Corporation standings can be shared.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.
