Are we ever getting graphical signatures back?

The new forums are ok i guess, but i really miss the graphical signatures people used to have.

EVE signatures were the best i've ever seen in any online community and some were really awesome pieces of art. I also know that many freelance artists in-game offered their services for isk to create these sigs.

Who could forget the Cumplecorn series?

I don't think so. There is supposedly a compatibility issue between https and offsite images. They could work around it, but they mentioned something along the lines that it woudl be counter productive and less secure.

If you want to use graphical signature, just enclose the img url between [ img ] and [ /img ] (no white spaces).
Plenty of those who want to see images have some kind of user script installed already.
There is one linked below in my sig, but I'm sure there are other ones around too.

Hmmm. There are a lot of variables I'm not sure about... but I don't see why we couldn't just upload sigs into the forum DB. The benefit is signature rules can be more easily enforced (logical size, display size, etc...) and we would have cool sigs back. The potential negative is, whereas on the old forums the page load would draw the graphics from multiple servers (effectively a content distribution network), if they get pulled from the DB it's going to increase the amount of bandwidth required per page load and it's going to increase the stress on the forum database (probably not helping the "we've been ganked" factor a lot).

Would be cool, but I can also see a technical reason why not.

Signatures should be used responsibly...

Yep it is unlikely that CCP will donate time for this as they would need to set up secure server where people could upload their own images which then could be linked to signatures. However I agree that the sig images bring plenty personality to the forums and they were bread and butter for some.

Time will tell... Maybe some day we get assembly hall back too.... maybe.

Graphical sigs would be nice, on the old forums CCP were quite liberal in their attitude to sigs that criticised them, picked up on their derps and generally poked fun as long as it was vaguely internet spaceships related. I can't think of another game developer that would have let us get away with some of the old sigs.

I still think that if CCP would host the images on their own server like the corp forums, most if not all security issues with them would no longer apply.

Just make the forum hide the signatures and pictures in 'compact' mode. Everyone happy.

thank you, that's exactly what I had been trying again and again, by was getting an error message. it turns out that if your text is in bold it produces an error message...argh...
