Is it possible to do faction missions without standing loss?
Main idea is to have an alt that can be "sacrificed" for standing loss, but does not have good skills to do missions by itself yet.
And when it does, maybe doing main char missions too, just to keep main char "positively charged".

There's few things I'm concerned -
Does standing hits incur if you are in mission pocket?
Shoot specific target?
Accept (and complete) mission?
Just engage NPC - Get close to take agro without shooting)?

So alt could shoot specifc targets while main is holding agro, or maybe only alt could accept missions?

Maybe there is another way to do this?

Standings losses are incurred for:

  1. Ship kills against a faction. One hit per wallet tick to anyone fleeted and on grid.
  2. Handing in storyline missions. Derived loss only incurred by whoever gets the mission.

So having an alt accept an anti-faction mission then running it with your main will not protect the main from standings losses. Having your alt accept missions and getting the storyline will at least protect the main from derived losses though.

Absolutely, but you need to train the following social skills:

- Apologies
- Excuses
- Profuse apologies (requires Apologies-IV)
- Spin-doctoring (requires Excuses-IV)

If I understand correctly, after a lot of reading, you will lose standing for accepting kill missions from an agent against other factions be they pirate or empire. You will also lose standing with other factions for doing the storyline mission you get after doing 16 missions for one faction.

You can manage standings by always avoiding kill missions against factions you don’t want hating you and skipping the storyline missions. Depending on how much grinding with each faction you want to do, you can also take advantage of the system.

The way storyline mission awards are granted, it’s possible to run them for a pair of agents in opposing factions (say Gallente and Caldari) and thereby improve standings with both factions while keeping their allies neutral as long as you avoid the kill missions against other empire factions.

Pirate nations would still hate you that way assuming you did kill missions against them. You could go further and grind enough missions without taking kill missions against other factions and do a storyline mission for each and gain standings with everyone. It’s a lot of grind for a rookie though.

There is a faction standing repair plan that you can follow to repair bad standings or follow in an attempt to keep faction standing high with all of them. It can be found here:

yes, I know all that...
Thing is, I want to do missions against factions, but don't want to constantly move around to keep up my standings positive.
I guess I'll just keep canceling them...

Just set up two bases for directly opposed factions. Jump clone between them on a, say, weekly basis. It should come out in a wash. Neither faction is going to be thrilled with you, but you won't go KoS against anyone.
