Theres been some talk about the various nerfs to Piracy lately, and I am glad to see that CCP has taken our concerns seriously. Apparently there is a fix for some of the things that looked like deliberate nerfs to our way of life that turned out to be defects.

If CCP did not want us in the game, they wouldnt bother fixing the problems or stopping by to let us know that resolution was forthcoming.

But now that Psychotic Monk has called for a crime spree with our -10's, Awoxers, Gankers, Theivers and tear extracting characters, I think we should still back him on this initiative. The prizes are legit, and I will not only participate, but will add some prizes shortly. The thread is a War and Peace length missive, but you should read it IMO.It is found HERE

Now instead of doing this in protest I suggest we do it in CELEBRATION of CCP's love for our way of life, as a way to thank them and show our continued support of their product.

THANK YOU CCP FOR RECOGNIZING THIS WAS A MAJOR ISSUE TO US AND HELPING OUT-D3

It's mainly a stupid change since it removes teamwork from the equation, not because it makes it harder to box your alts and up their sec together.

CCP encourage teamwork in every other element of the game and yet when it comes to group ratting, they happily screw everyone over and force them to play solo.

Darius III is also giving out a free plex to everyone who joins this crusade.

It's true, I just got mine in Jita!

Honest!

I don't judge people by their race, religion, color, size, age, gender, or ethnicity. I judge them by their grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, clarity of expression, and logical consistency.

Kind of funny that you cry about the sec gain nerf

* Let me say this about security status repair
A pirat dont geave any **** about the sec status and b the one who does care shoud not call him/herself a pirate just a wanabe. (true pirate is being proud of -10 and dont have the time to wast on reping sec status since he is to bizzy killing stuff

* They did it by stealth, without an announcement in the dead of night like cowards.
K i understand that can make people unhappy but then what its about is not that big of deel

*This is the single biggest nerf to lowsec and piracy in general ever in Eve's history Dont see the nerft since you kill people who are traveling from a to b, doing some pve in lowsec, or go for small rooming what wont change. and even if it does maybe you shoud go and kill stuff in 00 space if you care to much about it

*together with our -10 alts and begin campaign in Jita podding everyone and every ship we can kill Do it for fun and tears otherwise its a wast of time and props from ccp for maiking you rage ones more ^^ I woud say if you have trouble in low sec pirating go to 00 more fun ^^ loads of places to find good prey and the 0.0 is poor garded so you shoud not have that big of problem xD might aswel help hurting the bot users in that way.

i dont see how is affects at all the low sec piracy since if you are a pirate you are -10 and you shoud be the same oh yeah and about that oh so big nerf of sec gain common get off your lazzy behind and go rat some more since it takes 1 week of ratting in 00 to get from -10 to +1 i duno if you really are trying to pull attension on your self by maiking something so small to look much bigger then it is or you just trying to troll people eather way its all just an openion of mine. Take it easy and dont rage that much

Yeah yeah i know i shoud post it whit my pirat alt instead but that again it way to boring to log in to post whit it
Yes my spelling is not that great deal whit it
You mad bro?
Hope i dint dubble post it and feel free to flame away

Hmm, while its a shame they did a ninja edit on this I don't really see it as a problem. Most people just stay -10 anyways.

I presume you're trolling, nothing new there at least.
But I'll bother to reply anyway.

A. Pirates don't care about their sec status if we did we'd not be pirates we'd be be antipies or in null.
B. It doesn't matter for gankers either you can gank in hisec at -10.0 just fine.

The only people affected by this are people that take accidental security hits (like via space healering) or a weekend pvp'ers (just be an antipie then and the sec issue is fixed it's not like there aren't plenty of us flashies to shoot).
Also thanks to the lovely people at Black Frog us flashies don't even really need an alt for logistics any more either.

What most flamers seem to miss here is that Darius isn't complaining about how this will affect pirates who have a -10 status, but it will affect low sec dynamics in the sense that less and less people are going to want to get involved in low sec PvP or piracy because the effort you have to put into getting back to an acceptable security status isn't worth it.

Not everyone can benefit from the backbone of a well organised corp with alts that can supply low sec population with their ships and gear. Not everyone can afford Black Frogs. A lot of small skill players want to try out pvp by going into low sec, but most of them won't be able to do this is 2-3 people gangs if after killing one person or two they have to go farm rats on their own for a couple hours.

You guys should learn to read the point of an argument before pissing all over the OP.

I usually don't agree with what I read from Darius, and he might be despicable to a lot because of his actions regarding certain aspects of the game, but the fact is that he is right on, and so is the author of that blog.

This is a massive game changer for low sec on a medium to long term.

Low sec has little to no dynamics appealing to new players, it's more empty than most null sec on an average day. And this will not help at all.

Little edit :

The fact of the matter is that CCP has been more and more changing the game towards helping high sec residents and protcting their PVE players. There is absolutely no denying this, anyone saying the contrary has their head in the sand and just ignored what is in front of them. That CCP is doing this is a good or a bad thing is another matter.

But one thing is certain is that there is a significant community of players in EVE who actually choose the pirates way of life. There is a significant player base in EVE who has been advocating for years and years and years for a revamp of low sec to bring life back to it and give more content to low sec dwellers. And this has not happened. CCP has not moved towards that, there have been no efforts to promote this part of the game and CCP has expanded quite a few ressources into every other aspect of the game but this one.

And this change to sec status gain from ratting is another sign that CCP is turning EVE into a protected environment for PVE players.

Its true that if CCP are actually interested in luring people into the deadzone that is losec, they need to make it appealing to go there.

Casual PVP roaming is possibly one of the biggest / most accesible reasons to go there if it isnt your permanent home.

CCP are kinda shooting themselves in the foot with this change.

There should be a system in place where bounties and standing increases from NPC kills are shared equally between all in fleet.

They say there's no I in team, but there is now when theres a 1M isk bounty rat sitting in a belt and you need the sec status.

Doubt any non "weekend warrior pirate" will care about this change.
Now you will easier know who is commited to outlaw life and who is not.

Patches to protect carebears:

Vs Suicide Ganker
-Concord response time halved, and SS penalties triple
-Insurance removed exclusively for gankers, while left in place for self-destruction. [
-stealth buff to post GCC - Concord response time (in response to Smodab Ongelot's techniques)
-sec status ratting nerf (for non-outlaw gankers

Vs Ninja Looter
-Noctis - by making salvage so easy - market became flooded and worthless + ship tailored to be worthless for ninjas
-LVL 4 loot nerf - MR income pushed exclusively into bounties, stealing loot becomes far less relevant
-Orca Nerf #1 and #2 - very specifically tailored to insure Orcas are 'only intended for miners' - CCP direct quote
-Scan strength nerf
-sec status ratting nerf (for ninjas who target paint NPCs to farm sec status
-'persistant wreck' nerf, previously used to bait thieves

Vs High sec Merc
-POS breakdown/setup time reduced to mere seconds
-'Dec Shield' Rule reversal makes wardecs a waste of ISK and highsec POS invulnerable

Vs Incursion Ganker
-Incursion RR mechanics modification #1 and #2 - patched with blinding speed, despite massive Incursion runner income

Vs Infiltration Ganker
-Infiltrators can now be kicked from corp while in space - even in mid gank, causing an Concord kill without a warning pop-up.

And thats just what I can remember offhand. While its gratifying to get so much attention from CCP....

How about: Common sense BUFFs for ganking.

Carebear Hauler Orca nerf : Corporate Hangars become scannable and drop loot.

Income for Pod-killers: Ganker takes a HUGE security penalty - so the ganker deserves some chance of a 'reward'. Make implants drop at a 50% rate, and make pods scannable with existing scanner mods. Need a new ISK sink? Nerf Incursion income.

Remove Multiple GCC Warnings: Highsec Gankers are slowed down having to reply to repeated GCC pop-up warnings when trying to kill multiple target, and seconds count. If you ARE GCC, you shouldn't have to keep 'confirming' if you want a GCC. FIX IT. If outlaw is ALREADY GCC'd - no more 'mandatory pop ups' to screw up my attacks.

Seems to me that a lot of people are letting their personal disdain for Darius III to cloud their reading ability.

To all the pirates claiming this doesn't affect you because it only affects "casual" pirates, you're wrong. It does affect you, because all those casual lowseccers are engaging in other activities instead of lowsec roaming. Weren't you guys the ones that were complaining a few years ago that there are not enough targets in lowsec and CCP needed to give people more incentive to travel in lowsec?

To everyone else, regardless of whether or not this change effects you, you should be outraged at stealth nerf changes that don't make patchnotes. In fact, you should be outraged any time this happens even if it helps your gameplay style because it makes documenting game mechanics in an already complex game that much more complicated and hard to figure out.

There's absolutely no reason for any game mechanic change that CCP makes to NOT make it into patchnotes.

You guys are acting like CCP did this intentionally, rather than the more likely scenario they broke it and didn't realize how or why its broken.
