If you watch the original clip, they clearly say 'over 8000'.

This 9000 thing is totally based on mistranslation of the original works.

I'm lost, what are you referring too?

Though I cant imagine the Japanese have always been waiting for a localised Eve and now tens of thousands subscribe.

Id rather guess those who were enthusiastic about Eve play with the english client already, so maybe we see an increase of a few hundred players, not thousands.

Yay 10 years! :D

First, most Japanese speak english, read and write it as well. I hope Eve will appeal to Japanese mmo players on a large scale and we welcome them into the Eve community.

I used to do that when I had a low SP clone, mainly because I couldn't be bothered flying back to empire in a pod though Blink

I can't tell you how much I want to see a massive hello kitty fleet engaging Goonswarm.

The numbers will not jump crazy, but a nice number, it will add to the sandbox and give more fun and fresh players to see going around killing stuff.

They rely need to look at getting Eve out to more places for more people can play it thats how they will get there name out there and grow some subs for there game. Because there are way too many people that I know that have never heard of Eve online.

Best to disband some big null-sec alliance then, because that is what makes the news...

Good for you. I block any russian IMMEDIATELY. It is obvious that they aren't talking to me and why bother typing when the chat is obviously English? I don't want my chat filled with their gibberish so blocking them is perfect...

PC games don't do too well in Japan, they prefer consoles even more than we do. Those who do play PC games tend to be retired men with a little too much time on their hands. This is from first hand experience from my visit to a PC game show in Tokyo.

I think Japan's still a little behind the rest of the tech world, as far as home PC use goes. They missed the PC/internet boom of the late 90s because their monopolistic local computer maker Oki insisted that they stick with it's clunky old OS. So they were kind of isolated from the rest of the world using Windows/Mac/Linux. Eventually they gave up on the Oki system, around 2005 maybe, and started using the standard OSes. But I think PC/internet culture still isn't as well-established in Japan as it is in the rest of the developed world. They're comparatively a few years behind still.

Not be racist or anything but the Japanese tend to be more into video games than most people of other cultures. So we can expect a huge jump in players.

However they also tend to be rather biased against western games and tend to prefer the games that were made in their own country so we might not see much of a change at all.

CCP is going to have to advertise harder than they have ever advertised before. And they are going to need to add a handful of ships that can turn into fighting robots.

We enjoy games from the zany to the tactically complicated.

Eve is the disgia of MMOs, it will be enjoyed. Nexon is known for its ability to advertise for sure though.

I'll bet you a million isk that at least 7 japanese peoples join eve.

Although I don't entirely get what's stopping them from playing at the moment anyway.

I'm in Japan and joined eve 5 weeks ago.
I can confirm that the client already supports Japanese as well as having Japanese chat rooms in the game.

As some of you have mentioned, if Japanese people wanted to play eve they would have already joined up.
