Greetings folks,

I've recently found myself wanting to come back to eve and give it a shot, i tried it when it released, didnt have the time for it as i was working 2 jobs, etc etc.

anyway, got the time, life has settled down a bit and i'm looking to have some fun online.

Is eve online still "approachable" to new people ? or are we hopelessly outmatched when it comes to "catching up"

Is there still a decent population to play with or has the server shrunken down due to the age ?

Any "newbie friendly" corporations out there I should look into joining ?

Any tips/suggestions ?

thanks!

also! one more question.... most of my time isnt going to be spent mining asteroids is it ? are there npcs i can hunt until i'm strong enough to venture out into deep space ?

*so lost!*

Apart from a bit of angst last year, EVE has been slowly growing year over yea

If you've been away for a while, I'd suggest you have a look over Day 0 Advice for New Players. I have tried to cram as much useful stuff in there as applies to new players with new characters: it might give you some ideas for getting started agai

As for "catching up", you will find that once you get to level 5 of any skill there is no way to train it further. So once you get to «race» Frigate 5, there is no further improvement you can make in flying that hull. Other skills come into play of course: Electronics, Engineering, Mechanics, Hull Upgrades, and so fort

The bottom line is that "catching up" to players with more time in game is not actually necessary. Pick a portion of the game you'd like to specialise in to start with, and focus on that aspect of the game. As an example, if you want to get into PvP as quickly as possible, you really can't go past "Red Vs Blue". Train the skills you need to become better at flying your frigate in frigate/cruiser warfare while having fun!

STUPID BROKEN FORUMS DELETED MY POST... AGAIN.

Anyway, long story short if OP has any questions about eve or would just like to fly with soem friendly guys don't be afraid to gimme a convo or an eve-mail. Enjoy flying frigates, you wont realise now how powerful they really are :)

Also, that Day 0 Advice thread is very useful and full of good info.

Fly safe man and have fun, dont get into waiting for skills before you feel you are "good". Being good at eve has much less to do with skills than most newbies will realise.

There's still a few friendly helpful players left in this game.

Now if I can only find out where they're hiding at.

Just kidding.

Hey Seddic.....

Welcome back! Ive been playing for about 3 years now, and of course one learns many lessons in eve the hard way :)

I guess it all depends on what u wanna do? ATM I mine, do courier runs, and missions to accumulate a few bil so far :)

So, with Eve it's usually who u come in contact with, and who stays around, and who u grow to trust.....

See u around and good luck!

Finding a good corp is one of the most important things you can do in Eve. There are many corps that teach pvp. And a few like E-UNI that teach about everthing. So once you see a corp you like take some time to look them up, check out their website. Try chatting to people in their public chat room if they have it. Not knowing what to do in eve is normal when you start out. That's the beauty of eve, so many things you can do. Almost forgot, Eve Online has grown evey year.
Good luck and have fun.

THIS ^^^

If you learn one thing about eve learn this. There is strength in numbers. Join a well established, newb friendly corp (based in high sec) and devote as much time as is reasonable to playing. Don't go nuts and play 8 hours a day you will catch SOA (significant other aggro) and you will more than likely burn out again. I recently joined RvB and I find it is a great way to meet new people, learn the basics of pvp, and get used to getting killed in eve. Now I knew all of these things long ago, but for a vet player like myself I really enjoy the pvp anytime aspect of RvB. Others may not like this so much.

So ya first figure out what you want to do...pvp, shoot rocks, mission whore, or pirate then find the best corp to help you reach that goal.

Hope this helps!
